I know that there is a list of coaches that they are talking to, but what about there DC that is the serving head coach(Joe Kines). Does he have a chance? If not who do you think they will hire?

I hope not! Just the thought of hearing him talk makes me cringe! Besides, he didn't help his case last night.

Bama will wait until Nick's season ends on December 31. If he takes the cash, he will be head coach before the BCS game. If not, Bama will scramble fast to try to save the recriuting season. Kines is the ultimate fallback, but his hiring is unlikely unless no established head coach is interested.

Coaches with NFL experience seem to be the front runners. Mike Sherman, Jon Gruden, Chan Gailey and Tom Coughlin have cropped up frequently

The stock of current college coaches without NFL experience continues to wane. Greg Schiano and Jim Grobe have been mentioned. Tommy Bowden and Huston Nutt have been mentioned but are long-shots.

Can you imagine the interviews after the Alabama - Ole Miss game if Joe Kines is hired permanently?

Orgeron: Bul ga ma shon ja ja...football
Kines: Ma goma dully goja boo boo aloot...o-fence
Orgeron: He sha mala rumba zola umph...baby
Kines: We gosha pula inzone weola...Bama

The post-game interviews would be more entertaining than the game.

Is this what you are talking about? I don't think it is as bad as everyone makes it sound. The guy is pumped and is trying to show that he has a lot more emotion that Shula. Certainly no worse than Alex Gibbs Sr. was at AU. I will never forget the day Gibbs head-butted a player wearing a helmet and spent the rest of practice running around with blood all over his face.

JMO, but Alabama cannot afford the risk of hiring Kines as the HC, especially since there are many other more desirable candidates. Such a move would certainly result in another "look" from the NCAA.

Kines has a lot of - shall we say - "baggage" from previous skirmishes with the NCAA enforcement division. I mean, if they'll consider Kines as HC, then why not include Jackie Sherrill, Gaylon Hall, or Danny Ford?

Kines interview reminded me of a hysterical Ron Zook. Those guys make Les Miles appear eloquent.
