I just finished watching the replay of the game. In addition to big catches, including one for a vital 1st down in the 4th quarter, he made several outstanding blocks that freed up long runs. He took out two defenders on KW's TD run in the 1st quarter. JR played a better game than I thought. The pitch/throw he made to JV for a big gain while in the grasp of Hog defenders was amazing. Equally amazing was a check off he made in the 3rd quarter where he moved Hester and then completed the wheel route pass to him for about a 40 yard gain. Missing our starting LB's hurt. We couldn't contain the sweeps the Hogs ran out of the spread formation for big gains. That and some shoddy tackling. Nutt made some questionable decisions in the 2nd half that benefited us. Having Dick try to throw the ball on the 4th down play in the 4th quarter was a head scratcher. It was obvious Dick didn't have it early. Why he refused to play Mustain was puzzling. McFadden & Jones were just as impressive the second time around.
Bowe had an oustanding game. It was very Clayton-ish the way he helped the team so much with his blocking. If he keeps it up he may be able to get a Clayton like draft position in the 1st round.
Accoeding the Arky fans, there's some sort of internal strife surrounding him (Mustain). Apparently, he's got some sort of diva complex (which should have been apparent when he demanded his high school coach be given a job on the staff if they wanted him to sign) and Nutt is refusing to play him because of it. Definately a weird situation over there.
That's what I thought of yesterday too. He even took out two defenders on one play to spring a touchdown.
I was definitely one to criticize the receiving corps after the last 2 seasons. But their improvement this season has been nothing short of remarkable, for all the reasons indicated in the initial post of this thread. LSU's got the best triple threat receiving corps in the nation, hands down.
