is useless. I tried for months to refrain from entering into these repetitive threads that seem to never end. The fact is that no one knows what Saban is going to do because he gives no definitive answer through all of the press conferences. As you will see in this article, what we are all hearing is exactly what the Spartan fans were hearing before he jetted down to Baton Rouge to take over the LSU job. Enjoy it while we still got the best coach in college football, at the same time be real about it too.

Saban sets record straight on rumor he might skip town

With a rash of head coaching positions rumored to be available at the end of the NFL season, MSU head football coach Nick Saban is a hot topic for speculation.

Much has been made recently about the possibility of Saban departing for the NFL to take on the coaching responsibility of the St. Louis Rams.

But Saban said he's not packing his bags for St. Louis. In a prepared statement, Saban said he's happy coaching the Spartans in East Lansing.

"Rumors will not become a distraction to the tasks at hand, because this will be the last time that I address this issue," Saban said. "I'm happy at Michigan State."

Saban said he has not been contacted by any NFL team, contrary to what has been speculated in many newspapers.

He said his short- and long-range goals both revolve around his current coaching position.

"I have the job that I want as head coach at Michigan State," Saban said. "In the short term, my only concern is getting this team prepared to play Penn State and hopefully a bowl game. In the long term, I'm concerned about building a Michigan State football program that will compete for Big Ten championships on a regular basis."

Saban said he wants the speculation to stop, as he fears it might become a "three-ring circus and a distraction" to the MSU football team.

Saban was hired by MSU in Dec. 1994 and is in the second year of a five-year rollover contract that has a base salary of $150,000 a year.

The difference is the Spartans did NOTHING to make Saban feel like he was wanted, or that they wanted him to stay.

Down here, as long as he wins, he will be loved, and always made to feel like this is where he belongs.
