Beano cook in his chat today says in response to a Michigan coaching question:

Markus (Seattle, WA): Beano - I've enjoyed listening to you on KJR-AM here in Seattle with Mitch and the guys every fall - say, I know that alumni and fans from all schools are a little itchier on the trigger finger than most people across the country, but what do you think of Michigan's underwhelming performances on expectations since 1997, and when can we begin to question Lloyd Carr and the "inbreeding" fence that seems to be around the Wolverine football program? What's going on in Ann Arbor?

Beano Cook: (3:20 PM ET ) People think Lloyd Carr may retire. I have no idea. It is obvious if he does the coach they should hire is the coach at LSU, Les Miles, who played at Michigan. He has done a great job there.

Alot of the Michigan booster (through the grapevine), don't like Miles. Plus Miles has a huge buy out clause in his contract. lf he goes, so be it, but LSU will have alot more money to throw around for a new coach if he does.

It's not. A couple days ago on this forum or another someone posted the terms of Miles's contract via an LSU link. Thats where I saw the info.

I sure thought it was larger than that for Michigan. 500k for anyone else. My nerves couldn't handle another coaching change this soon. I don't think Carr is going anywhere this year or next.

    Just for Shlts and Giggles...

Who would be available on the coaching market this year, that LSU would take, if Miles were to leave ?

FightinTIGER: #1 by a wide margin. Bitchers Hall of Fame candidate
KteamLSU: Suddenly a player. Could challenge FT during Basketball season.
DutchtownTiger: Negative posts only, but tends to lay back until his buddies are foaming at the mouth
TwistedTiger: His name says it all
islstl: Negative and not very bright
US Navy Tiger: Newcomer to the dark side. May have Arkansas relatives
Carsonin98: He'll be gone in a week or so. Freeloader.

This is correct. There is a special clause specifically naming Michigan that is a considerably larger amount. It might be near $1 million.
