Another nut with firearms

  1. HalloweenRun I'll try to be nicer, if you try to be smarter!

I have a copper pipe in my room from an experiment several years ago. When we have our drills, I stand behind our door with it on my shoulder. I have told my kids I might get killed, but I will go down swinging....and God help the scumbag that I am able to knock down.

I don't know for certain but I bet a lot of school personnel have a pistol in their vehicles for protection. In rural areas that may include a shotgun behind the seat of a truck.
  3. If you could choose your emotions, they would cease to be emotions. They are intrinsically involuntary.
    StaceyO likes this.

its insulting to all others killed in aurora, vatech, columbine etc for this to be the reason to change gun laws or mental health system. we are a nation of dumbasses. killing a 6yr old is no worse than killing a 12, 25 or 45 yr old . Half-assed changes will be made based on an emotional response.

If you take the most accurate, fastest firing, largest magazine-capable assault machine gun, and place it - fully loaded - in a room full of people, it will kill no one....unless a person picks it up and pulls the trigger. It is amazing that the gun control crowd can not grasp the concept that people are the problem.

and how did it get their in the first place?
very shallow analogy and terrible argument to boot, you are smarter than this.

I put it there to prove the point that it won't kill anyone on its own. I also locked the doors after ensuring that I know everyone in the room and am positive that none of them are likely to snap and use the gun. My hypothetical; my rules.

i proved my point on your argument as well, which has zero to do with reality.

No it actually does. You just aren't seeing it. Of course I agree with him. A gun is only a mechanism, it literally cannot harm anyone or anything without applied force from a person.

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun ;)

You didn't make a point; you asked a question. And I admit, I got too facetious with my answer. Here's a better answer....
There are a couple of possibilities. Perhaps it was put there by someone with ill will, in which case the person who put it there is to blame. Another is,or maybe it was left there by an irresponsible gun owner. Neither changes the premise; the gun isn't dangerous unless a person uses it.

Here's another hypothetical; would you prefer to be locked in a room with a loaded gun, or locked in a room with an unarmed, convicted killer? You'll probably find that to be a shallow argument as well. But before anything is done, a very simple question has to be answered. Will getting rid of guns truly deal with the Adam Lanza's of the world?
