I wasnt alive for it but a funny story:

My grandmother, God rest her soul, brought my uncle to the game (he must have been four, at most), and the run occurred while she was in the bathroom with him because he had to take a leak! Maybe its funnier for me, because I know how big on an LSU fan she was, but every time I hear about Cannon's run I cant help but think of her telling that story....

Either ways, thanks for the vid link :thumb: !

Yes, and another little known fact is that during the bluegrass miracle he credited Billy Cannon!

I was in Tiger Stadium on the 10 yardline on the northeast sideline. Cannon ran right in front of us to score in the north endzone. We went crazy. To put my age in perspective, my first game in Tiger Stadium was in 1949 as a Senior in High School, when Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice and North Carolina were beaten by the Tigers in the Famous "Wet Field" Game. The Thibodaux Tiger Football Team went to the game and we sat in bleachers in the South End Zone. Boy, that was a long time ago!

My mother and father were at the game, my mother is still alive.

Here is what needs to be known about the game, its was 100 percent humity and every player out there by the forth quarter was very tried.

Johnny Vaught mistake was not playing Bobby Franklin in the 4th more who was the 3rd team qb as Gibbs was the starter and Brewer the 2nd teamer who played mostly defense.

Also Cannon almost lost the game for LSU when he fumbled on the LSU 21 early in the first quarter. Ole Miss scored the fg 6 plays later. Billy almost recovered his fumble, but Billy Brewer just beat him to it.

I have the play by play of the game, with Dan Hardesty notes on it, which match much of what my father told me of the game.

Also late in the game Ole Miss got to the LSU 2 yard line with a 4th and goal to goal:
Elmore ran to the left and was stopped by Rabb and Cannon

LSU took over the ball with 18 second left on its 1 yard line.

Also Johnny had a habit at the time to punt on 3rd down, it was a tactic to force the other team into mistakes on offense as turnovers won him many games.
