Going to the PMAC tonight to see the exhibition game between the Hornets and Heat. Shaq did not even suit up last night and is questionable for tonight. I wonder if he will though because of the setting/location. I'll be there. Probably my first and last time I spend money on any NBA game.
Fans who ponied up $100 or whatever it was to see that exhibition here in Nashville are none too happy. The game was promoted the whole time around Shaq and Dwayne Wade and then he doesn't even warm up. And nothing was said about an injury beforehand.
No sign of him anywhere. I may have missed him though. Just got in from the game.. We left midway through the third quarter. Quite a snooze-fest.. I am not much on pro sports though. I have a sick feeling in my stomache after goign to the game. The Hornets went out of their way to be supportive of the New Orleans community. Right before tipoff, Chris Paul (hornets rookie) came out to center court and spoke to the crowd. On behalf of the Hornets, he thanked everyone for being there. He said that the Hornets "can not wait to return to New Orleans for a regular season." At halftime, there was one of those typical contests where a fan tries the impossible for a prize. A man had the chane to win a new car. All he had to do was hit a half court shot. Of course he missed.. Right after the publc address guy said something to the effect of he may not have won a car but he did just win somehing else - a new house! Then Hornets owner George Shinn came out and made a presentation. The man and his family were given a house in New Orleans. Apparently they had lost theirs during Katrina. This is one of twenty homes that the Hornets will be giving away in New Orleans through Habitat for Humanity. All a part of the rebuilding process in New Orleans. It was actually a very touching moment. At the same time, it made me sick to my stomache. George Shinn is acting in a very respectable way here. I don't know if he hopes to ever come back to N.O. or not but he certainly is putting on a good front for his organization. This is how an owner should act. On the other hand, we have Tom Benson doing everything in his power to bail on the cuty of New Orleans and state of Louisiana. Really makes me sick and quite bothered. Generally I could care less about the Saints... but for an out of state owner, who has barely even settled in dwown south here in Louisiana to come out and support the community here and in contrast the local guy owner to shun us all..... :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:
I could not have imagined it being that nice inside. They did one hell of a job fixing up the old arena that Pete built.
Bass played the entire 4th quarter. He had a fadeaway over Simien and and dunk on a fast break. He definitely looked undersized out there.
Absolutely. The place looked awesome. It's going to be a great place to take in some Brady Ball this year. Some rows were a little tight as far as leg room went. The first place we sat my knees were really squished against the seat in front of us. Then we had to move and the seats on that row had a little more space.
