Had mine about three weeks. GREATEST rifle of all time. Mine is a CZ 527 Varmint.

I cannot believe anyone that shoots does not have one. They have only been around about 10 years.

They shoot, according to my wife, "cute little bullets." But, they leave the muzzle at 4000+ fps.

I reload, they only take about a 1/3 or 1/2 of the powder of my 25-06 (which is not that big a cartridge either.)

As most of you know, I am an idiot. Here is picture of my 16 through 20th shot. My first shot with the VMAX (Hornady) bullet. 99% rifle, 1% me!

As a varmint rifle, what can it do for the average feller, that a .223 Ruger Mini-14 cannot? More accurate? Is the ammo pricey?

Red, I am about as far from an expert as you can get. Here are a few quotes from the "Firing Line Forum" I don't think it is pro 223 or pro 204. I reload so never bought any, but I "assume" .223 would be less expensive off the shelf. I see repeatedly where 204 is a flatter shooter, but "for the average feller" not sure it is superior to .223. I don't have a 223, my next one up is 25-06 which I also love!

.204 has pricier ammo. It shoots flatter than a .223 but isn't as versatile. Boss mans daughter has taken 2 deer with a .204 but she's lost a couple also.
The.204 is mainly a varmint/ predator round where a .223 can be used for deer hunting, less than 100 yds if you stay ethical.
My son took 2 does and a buck with his .223 when he was 7 and 1 doe at 9. This past season, when he turned 10, I got him a 7mm-08. and he took a doe with it.

Buy what you want. Shoot what you bring. Just burn that powder baby, burn that powder.

Just picked up a Ruger Gunsite Scout (.308) left-handed and it is AWESOME! I met the President or CEO of Ruger in Florida when this was released a few years ago and told him I would buy one if they had a left-handed version. He told me that I was the sixth or seventh person that had told him that. Six months later, they put out the lefty version. Took me awhile, but had to live up to my word!
