Come on, please don't compare the baseball program to the basketball program. The basketball program was coming out of the pits of hell and the baseball program was coming out of one of the most dominant decades in modern collegiate athletics.

Yes, Smoke has recruited well, but you don't think those kids are coming here because we won 5 NC's in 10 years?

Exactly right. Many people don't realize that football, baseball, and even women's basketball are easily overcompensating for any loss in revenue MBB creates, Brady's job is safe with mediocre season's. In that respect, as long as the "true" fans, which is a slippery slope term, actively patronize MBB, nothing will change. The bottom line is: as long as MBB breaks even financially, Skip could are less about 0-100 NCAA playoff record. The university gets so much exposure and support from the other sports, MBB is almost a non-issue.

Anybody in the media will admit Brady is not popular with the fans, any poll would confirm this. And yes fans manifest their displeasure and/or apathy by not showing up to the games, that's not even debatable.

This season's success in the SEC, is short lived. The SEC relative to other major confences and even mid-major teams in the NCAA, was overrated. This is not debatable either. Media across the board was saying it all season long how the SEC was down, and now looking at Florida getting outplayed by a better 'Nova team supports what's already been supported.

Homers who wear the purple and gold glasses will always support Brady, that is a fact. The same people supported Dinardo and were pissed when he was fired.

I am apathetic to Brady, and as a businessman, I can't blame Skip for not firing Brady as long as we have winning seasons. I wouldn't mind a better coach, but I would honestly rather go to baseball games than MBB because it interests me more. Call me a fairweather fan, but between gas and tickets I only have so much money to support a couple of sports. But when it's on TV I will watch and root for MBB every time.

I disagree that the purple and gold homers support Brady. There is really no def of those who support him or dont support him. It's either they do or the dont. Taht is the classification. Numerous homer types might dislike him.

This is got to be one of the most asinine post I've ever seen. Please tell me you're joking. If the majority of LSU fans had this hands off and indifferent attitude LSU would be at the bottom of the SEC in all sports.

Of course it matters what we the fans think and who we support. In a nutshell, it's the fans expectations that directly influence the decision making of the leadership. If the fans continue to pack Tiger Stadium despite mediocre performances then the leadership is not going to want to make changes. As long as the revenue is coming in why would they? What incentive would they have had to spend the big bucks to bring in a Saban?

OK. Let me know when your opinion has any bearing on what happens in LSU Athletics.

Excuse me...but what LSU football team were you watching in 1998-99?

Gerry DiNardo lost control of the program, and stubbornly refused to can Lou Tepper...leading to 2 losing seasons. THAT'S why we went in another direction. You make it sound as if DiNardo would have been fired after 6-5
    or 7-4 seasons.

As a fan I support Brady. I could keep saying the same things over and over about his winning but if I did I just might get my post level up with TE.

With LSU being the big dog in the state, there is no reason why LSU can't be a top 20 program every year. This state produces plenty enough talent to achieve this provided the right man is in place. And if the school would make a commitment to the program there is no doubt they could attract some good coaches.

Sure, it's called a collective opinion. A number of fans were not happy with Dinardo so he was fired and Saban was brought in. If those unhappy fans didn't voice their opinions and blindly supported Dinardo as you probably did then I think it's safe to say we would have never won a national championship. More importantly, there would be no SabanFan. :)
