Yeah, from what I have read the team meets at the 50-yard line like that and do the whole "group huddle and jump up and down" thing like almost every team in every team sport does. However, I can see how an enebriated and bloodthirsty Tiger crowd could take it the way they did.

I suggest Stoops and his players start meeting at the 30-yard line...

Who has photos of the incident? Some folks over on the Zona boards are suggesting that it did not actually happen and are demanding proof.

Maybe they also believe that the game really didn't happen and they are still 1-0. They are Pac 10, denial is a trademark.

It has more to do with the spitting, which until I see/hear better proof, I don't believe it happened either. That would just be stupid.

    I believe it.

I can't remember what year it was, but the previous year Les Miles and Co. at OSU beat OU. The following year, when OU thrashed OSU by a score of like 52-9, at the end of the game, Mike Stoops walked out onto the field with his arms outstretched basically asking if Miles wanted to "get some more of this" or something like that. I can't remember what exactly was said, but it was reported in the paper again here last week in an article talking about how the two coaches might bring the memories of Bedlam into the LSU/Zona game.

So yeah, I believe it. There is absolutely no love lost between Miles and the Stoops.

There was no one else near the Arizona team when they were midfield, no one outside the Arizona team could have seen someone spit. Unless of course there was an HD camera zoomed in.

I could see no spitting from my seats and can't confirm that. I did see players look for the Eye of the Tiger and stomp the logo, led by their coach. When the crowd booed loudly, about a dozen players turned outward and gave the "bring it on" gesture to the stadium crowd. The effect was unmistakeable.

The spitting story comes from Jordy Hultberg, the on-field radio announcer who was broadcasting live during the incident and described it from just a few yards away.

I'm a little vague on the spitting thing. I heard that was said on the radio broadcast...maybe it was added just to incite the team just a little bit more. I did make the comment after the incident and the taunts the AZ team was giving the crowd when the boos started that I think they just opened up a whole new can of whoop-ass.
