Arizona State officials are to be in Baton Rouge, La., on Sunday to discover first hand what would await the Sun Devils if their game at LSU next weekend is not rescheduled, The Arizona Republic reported. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2151734 Thought some of you might be interested.
I think they'll be pleasantly surprised that BR is not a disaster zone. I can only imagine what they think is going on here from looking at it on TV. The logistics seems to be the problem ... hotel rooms, security for the game, etc. I think we are getting our arms around all of this in the BR area and handling it much better now. I'm starting to believe we will be playing ASU in Tiger Stadium...
The problem that I have with it being held in Baton Rouge is the Hotel issue. I live in the Dallas - Ft Worth metro and gave up reservations to accomodate victims. I certainly do not have an issue with that, but at the same time, my friends and family will have nowhere to stay and it is quite a drive for us. I believe holding the game in Shreveport would not be a bad idea considering. Don't get me wrong, I would love for it to be in Baton Rouge, but Shreveport would be alot closer for me considering. Thanks
From what I've read elsewhere, the sense among ASU folks is many who would have made the game---maybe, what, 5,000---will not come now due to the storm, etc. I personally know of a friend of a friend who lives in Phoenix and is an ASU grad. He and his buddies planned on staying in New Orleans that weekend and driving up for the game. Needless to say, his plans have now changed.
I should have 2 extra tickets with me after I pick mine up from WillCall on campus. (Providing the game is played there.) I purchased 6 but have had 2 folks cancel on me due to hotel availability. Let's monitor the situation, and if things work out we can meet somewhere on campus. All I would ask is face value. Tickets are located in Upper West.
www.lsusports.net LSU is working to displace "wet tickets" All signs are pointing that LSU is doing best they can to have a game here next Sat....
I, too, have plans to drive in for the game and stay Friday and Saturday nights. But it looks like there will be no place for us to stay, so I'm not sure how it will be possible. This week, I will check into the availability of hotel rooms in surrounding areas, like Lafayette. Anyone have any idea what the hotel situation will be?
There is a storm shelter with room near where I live. Three squares a day. Just a though for some of you out of town folk... Seriously though we haven't heard anything as of yet from the LSU Marshals. As far as I know it is still on...but of course that could change.
All you have to do is drive about 30 minutes after the game to get a hotel room. There are plenty of rooms in the Lafayette area which is about 30 to 45 minutes out of Baton Rouge, depending on how you drive.
