Around the SEC – missing in action this fall in Oxford, Auburn and Tuscaloosa

From various AP reports – don’t know how much of this has already been posted

On top of the news that defensive tackle Jerrell Powe may not attend Ole Miss even if he is eligible this fall, Ole Miss Coach Ed Orgeron says the Rebs highest rated recruit, 6’ 10”, 210 lb receiver A. J. Jackson from the College of the Sequoias probably will not be at Ole Miss this year. Orgeron said "As of right now, we don't think he's going to be enrolling at any university next year," at a recent event in Jackson, MS.

Orgeron also said junior Mico McSswain who missed spring practice for academic problems may also miss fall practice. Orgeron said, "Although he's improving, he's going to be very close."

Meanwhile, Auburn recruit, 6’4”, 260 lb defensive end, Nick Fairley, looks like he will be staying in Mobile this fall. In the investigation of possible grade changes at a high school in Mobile, Fairley’s’ high school principal, Terrance Mixon said they "pretty much know" Fairley won't be eligible at Auburn,

Finally, it appears that Alabama recruit 5’ 9”, 204 lb tailback Jamar Taylor (who enrolled in school last winter and participated in spring drills), is leaving the Tide and moving closer to his Lakeland, Florida home, possibly South Florida. Saban said in a recent appearance that it was a decision Taylor made for family reasons and that Alabama would not try to change Taylor’s’ mind.

The reports mentioned "family issues" and that is really all I know.
Maybe we'll get more information from Terry or one of the other Bama fans who post here.

I wasn't questioning you, and probably wrong in what crossed my mind- was just thinking out loud. I'm sure that's probably why, players didn't walk out on Saban.......that I know of anyway, maybe others have better info on that.

Rumor is that Taylor just got homesick. it's a long way and a big cultural gap between southern florida and Tuscaloosa.

I'll take you up on that bet! :thumb:

He's already been to the SF campus talking to their football staff about a transfer.

All indications point to SF. There is a RB down there now, Mike Ford, that couldn't make the grades to be accepted at Bama after numerous tries to get a higher score on his ACT/SAT.

Jamar has some talent. (averaged 4 yards per carry during the spring game). Those two in the backfield is going to be a GREAT 1, 2 punch.

    J. Taylor asked for a release, and it was granted. Homesick with the combination of looking at 4 RB's ahead of him on the depth chart not to mention the personal problems he was dealing with...both the staff, and JT's family agreed it was a good move for him to be back home.

FWIW, if you go to Tidesports.com and search for Jamar Taylor you should find 5-6 article about him...dated, say around the 11-14th of this month
