Around the SEC – non-basketball items from local newspapers:

    • TuscaloosaAlabama will start spring practice March 27 and conclude practice Saturday, April 21 with it’s A-Day game which will be telecast live at 1:00 p.m. by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS). CCS will also broadcast six other spring games: March 17 at Auburn (live at 1 p.m.), March 31 at Tennessee (tape-delayed at 5 p.m.), April 2 at Mississippi State (tape-delayed at 8 p.m.), April 7 at Miami (live at 9 a.m.), April 7 at Georgia (live at 1 p.m.) and April 14 at Clemson (live at noon).
    • Nashville – Vanderbilt’s David Price pitched a 4 hit game and struck out 14 as No. 1 Vanderbilt beat 19th ranked Ole Miss 3-2 in 10 innings Friday night. Price is now 5-0 on the year and Vanderbilt is now 20-0 on the season. Price has been selected Collegiate Baseball’s National Player of the Week twice this season.
    • Fayetteville - Scott Linehan, Head Coach from the St. Louis Rams and Mike Tomlin, Head Coach from the Pittsburgh Steelers, were among the 58 NFL coaches, coordinators, scouts and executives on hand last Tuesday for Arkansas Pro-Day.
    • Athens – Spring practice has Georgia looking for two defensive ends with Charles Johnson and Quentin Moses going to the NFL. Trying to become the new defensive end starters for the Bulldogs are senior Marcus Howard (6-2, 220); Roderick battle (6-4, 256); Jeremy Lomax (6-4, 233; Jarius Wynn (6-5, 275, transfer from Georgia Military Junior College). Looks to be interesting in Athens this spring.
