Around the SEC – in case any of you missed these stories or they have not already been posted here –

    • MSU Coach Croom told reporters that true freshman Wesley Carroll is ahead of JUCO Josh Riddell in the two-horse QB race to relieve the injured Michael Henig (fracture in his right hand) but the final decision may not be made until game time on Saturday.
    • Ole Miss Coach Oh No says starting QB Seth Adams sprained shoulder will probably keep him out of the Florida game on Saturday – Adams says he feels like he can play, but Oh No told fans in Memphis that is was very questionable and that depending on how they practice this week, either last years starting QB Brent Schaffer or redshirt freshman Michael Herrick will get the nod. Coach Oh No also told fans in Memphis that he has learned an important recruiting lesson after the team’s 1-2 start --- they need to sign more skill position players.
    • Vandy Coach Bobby Johnson reports that starting QB Chris Nickson is now fully recovered from a pulled hamstring he suffered in the second quarter of the Bama game on Sept. 8. Vandy reportedly considered letting backup Mackenzi Adams start the second half, but waited until the third quarter because Nickson insisted the injured hamstring was not bothering him.
    • UT’s Coach Fulmer says there in no panic on Rocky Top and that the Vol’s troubles can be fixed and they can still have a successful season. Vol fans continue to grumble about the team’s poor showing this season and many already say 2007 is going to be a replay of 2005 when the Vol’s spent December at home without a bowl. Unlike 2005 when Fulmer complained several times that the team’s problems were a lack of senior players stepping up and providing leadership, he now says the problems (while still fixable) are across the board – players, assistant coaches and the head coach. Meanwhile, after reflecting on the big loss to Florida last Saturday, Vol OC, Coach Cut, says he still thinks Florida’s padding the score at the end of the game was just for recruiting.
    • When recently asked about any of his clients interest in the Michigan job, one of several Memphis, TN based agent who represents or has represented several coaches now or previously in the SEC would only say he had no comment.
