Some nice comments about Early Doucet and he has him as the #2 WR for next year but he doesnt think the top 2 are worthy of 1st round picks yet. That could all change after the season, I think Early will shoot up the draft board during the NFL combine and the Senior Bowl because he will be in a lot of double coverage and the offense likes to spread it around.

Also a fan asked about the message board debate about the level of talent LSU had when Saban came to LSU vs. Bama's talent now. Pretty much what must of us have said on this board.

Here is the 2nd part of his response:

That does agree with what we've been saying. I think saban is a better college coach than Shula was, and Bama will be a better team. How much better remains to be seen. 8-4 would be better.

while i knocked the sporting news in a post a couple of days ago. i guess i should praise cfn for being one of the better publications out there. these guys always do their research (well most of the time) and seem to find the head on the nail more than others.

There is very little to dispute with that quoted statement. Saban improves Bama but the days of SEC dominance are gone. My only question is who is going to pull a UAB-type upset over Bama this year that sends the Gumps off the bandwagon temporarily.

I will always be grateful to Saban for doing what he did at LSU. However, I have always questioned the Saban worship. Why? Exactly as stated...really good season and one :crystal: . The others were also quite good but not great...not that I was expecting the NC every year. Take the Blue Grass Miracle game. It took a miracle against Kentucky to go 9-3.

Not begrudging Saban anything about his time at LSU. But, a god he isn't. He may prove me wrong, but Bama better...at least, hedge the bets.

Miles doesn't have the gift of the gab, but I think he may ultimately leave Bama envious.:)

From a hermetically sealed mayonnaise jar stored on Funk and Wagnall's porch since noon yesterday, the answer is:

    Houston.

They will be better with Nick and he will beat Auburn and send LSU to Atlanta in the process.

Saban's a good coach but not a 4 mil a year coach, more like a 1.5 mil coach. The Gumps will love him this year no matter what. Next years a different story and they have their harder road schedule. Now year 3 should be his year with an easier home schedule. If he does not deliver at least the West and an appearance in the SEC championship game the Gumps will be yelling for his 4 million dollar neck. Year 4 goes back to the tough road schedule.
