Yet another person who failed to realize that this team was POTENTIAL, not completely talent. I do expect Miles to have very, very good recruiting classes. He's been impressive so far, and once he gets a few wins under his belt, and becomes more familiar with Louisiana highschools & recruiting, he should be outstanding at recruiting. As loco mentioned, Nick never competed for national championships regularly. To expect Miles to might be excessive. Saban didn't develop & utilize personnel that well last year. It was a young team & it showed - even Saban wasn't able to make them perform like Heisman candidates. His abilities are being exaggerated here. I don't think we yet know how well Miles will be able to influence factors outside of football like Saban did, the football operations center etc. Although I agree this was one of Saban's strong points, but Miles seems to embrace it.
the circus on the sidelines and the confusion in his comments are plenty enough to recognize the difference between saban and miles. this argument is ridiculous. if you wish to argue miles will improve well let's hope so. anything else is not worth comparing football-wise. being outcoached by phat phil is not something I've witnessed before. thats not a good sign.
I'm not arguing whether Miles is or is not as good, much less better, of a coach than Saban. I'm refutting parts of this guy's argument. Things didn't look good during the Tennessee game - I agree, but there have been times in Saban's tenure that didn't look good either. All i'm saying is that the man deserves more than 3 games to be judged on. Being outcoached by phat phil is something most football fans have witnessed before. The man does have a national championship to his name, just like Saban, and has one of the highest winning percentages in the SEC, if not the highest (I can't recall). That doesn't happen without a little bit of coaching prowess.
