It’s hard to believe but you won’t see Arkansas-Auburn on television this Saturday - anywhere. That’s because Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles has declined a request by Auburn to show Saturday’s game on a pay-per-view basis. Broyles said he won’t allow it because the game at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville isn’t a sellout. However, Auburn offered just about everything but its first-team defense to make the pay-per-view possible. Auburn made several offers, including: buying the remaining unsold tickets; paying for all the production costs and letting Arkansas pay-per-view the game in its own state; paying the production costs and showing the game in Alabama but not Arkansas; go through the SEC office to work out some sort of favorable deal for the Razorbacks. Broyles didn’t bite. In fact, he hasn’t approved a pay-per-view game since 1995, when the No. 18 Razorbacks lost to No. 10 Tennessee 49-31 at Fayetteville. Could there be some sort of connection?
Given the way college athletics are so heavily marketed, you might think the SEC would really lean on Arkansas to show the game - certainly outside the immediate area. Maybe someone else knows something about tv regs in the league, but this decision seems counter-productive to promoting the SEC.
When I was doing the hurricane relief thing, we had a airwing fly on my boat, and their corpsman was a bandwagon bama fan (he's from there) and he kept saying how good "Crodie Broyle" was.... and I kept correcting him haha... he would get so pissed.. but I dont know if it was at me or at the fact he claims himself a bama fan but cant remember the starting senior quarterbacks name... hahaha.. He constantly claimed how the 2005 team is just like the 1992 team and whatnot and how good crodie broyle is/was... and then I reminded him that "Broyle" was like a 6'0 piece of glass, and after one good hit, he's all over the ground.. he didnt like that one... lol
Well they televised the Ark/USC game up here so I imagine after that whooping they just don't want to be on TV :hihi: :hihi:
Don't know if anyone has ever offered to do everything Auburn offered before. Hell, buy out the remaining seats, pay all production costs, etc.
