As most of you know, my son is an Auburn grad... so I support him when I can... so I will say this: It just goes to show you what an experienced QB can do against an inexperienced QB early in the season. Auburn will be fine... as they mature. They will challenge for the SEC West. They will finish above Alabama. They will go to a major bowl. LSU will win the West... book it. Watch out for Arizona State... they are GT west... beating them will be "convincing"... as they say.
I agree with all of this except I give Cox a B. He's got an excellent arm in my opinion and a quick release. He will be good with time.
4. Did you watch the game? Their o-line is chit and the refs allowed GT to rough the passer at least 5 times without calling a single penalty. When he had time, he threw it well.
My take I noticed in the 1st half Cox locking on to certain receivers. I think his arm is ok, but he has to get some games behind him. Auburn tried to throw way too much tonight, couldn't explode off the ball and run inside. When Cope is playing center, the O-Line can be blown up. Backs can run OK. They aren't last years backs, but..., They still have to learn to block. The DB's weren't ready to play man. Irons wasn't able to press anyone. Pitts made the game physical.
Can you believe I got negative rep points for saying Auburn would finish above Alabama in the west... wow... I thought (1) this is an LSU forum and (2) logic mattered.
Nope, didn't see the game......wow only 4 picks, not to bad. :hihi: I'm sure the kid will be fine with some playing time under his belt, just goes to show that it takes a little while for young QB's to adjust in college football.
Yeah, some were ready to fire him after the UT, Bama, and second UT game last year. Those people will never be happy. Before the season most people were picking 2-3 losses. Guess they didn't expect one so soon. Still a lot of players on the team. They just have to learn to play together.
