Just got back from the game.

First, I really do not understand the fascination with the Groove. You cannot have generators, car batteries or open flames. Lame. Thank God for the Tiger Pimp Nation. Ole Miss actually stationed a security guard in their tent to make sure they did not get out of control:hihi: :hihi:

Second, the good news is that parking is a snap. There was a full house and we only had a five minute walk to the stadium. Also, we had zero traffic on our way out. I would probably be getting on the interstate right now if the game was in Baton Rouge.

Third, we walked down the Walk of Champions. I was expecting to get ragged the whole walk but only got a few "Go to Hell LSU" screams.

Fourth, Ole Miss fans were pretty subdued considering they were in the game for about 3 1/2 quarters.

Fifth, Tiger fans were out in force. We had a lot of energy and were louder than the Ole Miss fans.

Sixth, OM plays a lot of random video clips, including video clips from Any Given Sunday and Gladiator. They also play a lot of rap music over the loud speakers.

All in all, I had a great time. Mostly because of the Tiger Pimp Nation. Those guys were great. Their road trip is to South Carolina next year.

    :geaux: :geaux:

40,000 less people in the stadium makes a big difference.

Been there, done that, they knew too well how it'd end. 7 SEC loses a year conditions you not to get excited till if/when the ONE conference game a year comes.

Coach O is accustomed to having Snoop at his practices but couldn't get him, personally so it was the only alternative, being in Mississippi.

You can't walk around with a beer can or bottle. We brought a Heinken 5L mini keg which is probably the greatest invention on the earth. We were warned before we went to the Groove that the cops would make us ditch it. We had to wrap it up in a wind breaker. So Lame.

My thoughts after just getting back:

    1. Couldn't believe they recycled the Russell Crowe/Gladiator bit from '03. I guess that was the last time they had a chance to beat anybody, so whatever.

    2. I was very pissed over folks in the student section throwing crap at the LSU band after the halftime show. Pure trash, and from what I saw, a very poor job by the cops during halftime.

    3. I wish I had jumped the fence and knocked the hell out of the chearleader with the afro on the microphone who yellled go to hell LSU during the National Anthem.

I hate that damn place, and every time I go, I say I'll never go back again. I'm sure I probably will though.:eek:lefire:

I missed all of that. I was sitting on the other side. We had one douche bag that played on OM "SEC West Championship 2003" Team :dis: :dis:

We were lucky with our drinking. We got out there early and was able to walk across campus with the ice chest with no problems. It didn't hurt that we were hidden behind the baseball stadium and couldn't be seen by the authorities. We heard on the way back with the ice chest, though, that they were turning people around and making them go put it back in their vehicles.

On the way back (on highway 7) they had a sobriety checkpoint. The cop that checked us was an older gentleman and he asked to see my license. He checked and saw that we had an ice chest in the back of the truck. He asked "Y'all don't have any beer back in that cooler do you?" I started to answer "Well, yeah a..." "Y'all don't have any beer in that cooler, do you?" "...No sir." "Alright, well get going. This is a dry county." Pretty lucky that we were checked by one of the nice cops since they did have people pulled over doing heavy searches.

It's listed at MS-7, so it must be a state highway. All I know is that it was one lane in either direction, surrounded mostly by trees, and had no streetlights.

SOLUTION TO ICE CHEST ISSUE: Went there is '03 and here's what we did. Get a rather large back pack and double line it with heavy duty trash bags. Insert ice and beer. Voila ! Cold beer all day long.

The way a see it, the folks who vote to keep it dry live there 365 days every year. Folks who pass through once every two years really don't have the right to bitch and moan about it and should accept it and move on. Or, you could move there yourself and try to change things.

We went through the roadblock with no trouble. Seemed to me they were looking for drugs more than anything. They had a K-9 unit searching a car when we pulled up.
