If the scores dont change by next December, Bama will lose an additional 8 schollys from a team already ripped apart by probation. Being DEAD LAST in football APR is reason for Bama to be worried big time. We are just under the cutoff of 925 so we should be in pretty good shape but we are still in the lower half of the conference. Not too bad considering our poor grad rates the last time they were posted. Where we have problems is in Basketball. We are in terrible condition with a score of 812. Its one of the reasons our overall is so low. Thats for another thread though. Overall 1. Vandy 970 2. Kentucky 954 3T. Ole Miss 949 3T. Florida 949 5. Alabama 948 6. Tenn. 945 7. Auburn 944 8. Georgia 943 9. So. Car. 934 10T. LSU 933 10T. Miss. St 933 12. Arkansas 917 Football 1. Ole Miss 976 2. Auburn 960 3. Vandy 954 4. Florida 942 5. Kentucky 935 6. Georgia 930 7. So. Car. 924 8. LSU 923 9. Arkansas 921 10. Tenn. 920 11. Miss St. 906 12. Alabama 880
What I find really surprising in these numbers though is Ole Pi$$ and the Chickens are actually in front of Vandy in football. Very strange indeed.
Wouldn't shock me if it took MSU quite awhile to get that # up with all of their players getting kicked off the team.
You have to wonder if this will effect coaches decisions to kick guys off the team in the future. I bet it does.
Seems like all need to improve and with all the money schools are putting into academic support, etc. for the kids, by damn they should improve. But I'm for fairness and for this to be fair, some special consideration needs to be given Arkansas. Sort of a hillbilly affirmative action for folks in overalls. Those folks have only been wearing shoes and dating outside the family for a generation or two. Ease up on those guys. Pine Bluff wasn't built in a day. :hihi:
i read some of this last week...isn't it the combined score of your school and not individually? i think bamas hoops had the best score of all in the country.
Its per sport Tirk. And herein you have a BIG problem with this formula and its only the tip of the iceberg. While the NCAA may think they are doing good they are actually causing problems. Along with making coaches think twice about kicking someone off the team it will also effect recruiting, especially in basketball were its common for players to leave for the pro's just a couple years into their schollys and it counts against the APR. Just think about the can of worms that opens up. It will also have an effect on football especially if you are close or below the 925 mark. All in all this is a bad formula and will probably be tweaked just like the BCS has been. Another ill advised move by the NCAA without the proper thinking.
Here's the top ten scores in the APR by school: 1. Navy, 992 2. Duke, 985 3. Rutgers, 980 4. Rice, 979 5. Boston College, 978 6. Ole Miss, 976 7. Iowa, 974 8. Miami (Ohio), 973 9. Connecticut, 972 9. Virginia, 972 We in Hawkeyeland were surprised Ole Miss scored this high. We thought maybe Vandy would score well. Is this unusual "props" for Ole Miss or are they that highly regarded?
