I tried to respond in the article but kept getting an error message. Nice write up and don't be surprised if we find out down the road that he is already committed to LSU. Just pulling in the pieces from a few different sources including our own AtlantaBengal. It is never over till NSD though and we should watch out of Jimbo Fisher but Mettenberger seems pretty set on getting back to the SEC.
? 'Splain? I don't see Lee transferring (that ship has sailed, I think) and I don't see either being drafted as Juniors. So not sure what you mean.
No, the ship hasn't sailed although he may have to take steerage. Football training is a grind and I doubt if JL is enjoying the opportunity to compete and improve while sitting on the bench and watching Jefferson flounder. I bet his parents aren't all warm and fuzzy with it either. Maybe other factors are involved like a girlfriend at LSU or maybe he is far along with a major like Pet. Engineering or something but other than that I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone after this year.
I'll eat crow if it happens otherwise, but I'll say there is ZERO chance of Lee deciding on his own not to return to LSU for his senior season.
ZERO??? Explain that? I'd say a 50-50 chance, unless you know something I don't. I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Lee is already making some calls to Div II coaches, or taking some. By the way, doesn't Lee have a redshirt year left? Jefferson too for that matter.
Lee used his redshirt, he'd have to transfer to a division 2 school, and any possible NFL future (as strange as that may sound) would be GONE. If he stays, he plays SEC football (at least some) and is an injury away from being the starter - hell, he's a mediocre season away from being a starter. ZERO chance. If he were to transfer, he's basically giving up. This is the same kid who stayed at LSU after the fanbase treated him like CRAP. He's already proven he has more character than many of the people who sit in the stands and boo him. So I say there's ZERO chance he quits now. Like I said - I'll happily eat crow on this one. But I'm pretty confident I won't have to.
Lee was and has been pretty adamant that he is not going anywhere. Maybe that changes but if he was going to it would have been after last year.
I gotta agree with Bandit on this one...and Bhelm. But Bandit gave all the reasons. Lee ain't going anywhere. Seems like some want Lee to play so badly that they want the coaches NOT to try and improve the position. I don't get it. Lee may well be better than JJ, but he isn't the saviour. Good thing is, LSU doesn't need a saviour right now with the way the defense, special teams, and running game is going.
