I think it's the team to the north, Arkansas. All the talk of LSU, Auburn, and Alabama are sitting very nicely with Houston Nutt. No one is giving him a chance, very much like 1998. He is a great coach; I wasn't crying when Nutt's name was mentioned to take over.

The Aubies won't shut up about 13-0 until Tubby shuts up....

As recently as last week at the SEC Media Days in B'ham, Tubby was still crying about getting snubbed (in his eyes) for the BCS Title Game. I laughed when Tubby got to the part where he declared Auburn to be National Champions and stated that they ordered rings that state Auburn as the National Champs. Tubby followed up that comment with the statement that "no one can prove that Auburn wasn't the National Champion".
This stuff just cracks me up.

I am not one who believes Auburn was screwed last year. Yes, Auburn was
indefeated at the end of the season but so were several other teams and two of them (USC & OU) just happened to be ranked ahead of Auburn all year long and they are the two which played for the National Title.
I'll say the same thing about Auburn claiming a National Championship last year as I did about USC in 2003, there is an agreed upon system in place and
Auburn agreed to it. Then there is the fact that the Aubies are pulling a USC and claiming a Title for playing a team lower ranked than themselves. Since when does #3 play #4 or lower and win a championship?
Tubby and the Aubies need to get over it but in reality they probably never will. Anyway, it's good for a laugh.

Honest engine (notice the pc-ness), for the first time ever, LSU hired the guy I wanted. I wouldn't have been upset with Nutt, though.

OU was the fly in the ointment in 2003 and 2004 because of the love given Stoops. The media's love affair with Stoops and OU came to an abrupt halt about halfway through the 2nd quarter of the Orange Bowl. Of course, rather than sitting back, those failed English major have fallen for Mac Brown and Texas. I'm sure next year there will be a mad rush to Coach Fran and a$m after the 'Horns come up short, too.

At first I had some sympathy for their fans, but like a grieving widow who still longs for attention months after a loss, it's time to move on. You can only milk the sympathy cow for so long before you milk it dry.

Not that there was ever any love lost between me and AU fans...

To be honest with you, durring the hiring process, I didn't know who we should hire. I talk to a lot of Arkansas fans up here in Ouachita Parish and hear all the time how much they hate Nutt. I try telling them that the reason they will always be second tier is because no one in their right mind would want to live in Ark. No one in their late teens or early twenties anyway. Of course, they will not listen to reason. When Nutt was being pursued by Neb, and he got on and off the plane they had sent for him really showed his true colors. Everyone knows that the only reason he did all of that was to get a pay raise. I think that it showed a character flaw. The fans hate him even more than before. So, like I said, I didn't know who we should hire. I didn't really have an opinion. I just know some people I didn't want under any circumstance, and, Nutt was at the top of that list.
