if I'm not mistaken, the Mike Donohue that the quote originated from was also the LSU football coach from 1923-27...

...he had a 23-19 record @ LSU...

...though I believe he was more successful as head coach @ AU.....

He coached at Auburn from 1904-06, took a year off to just be the athletic director, and then coached from 1908-1922.

He went 99-39-4 at Auburn during those years.
