Although football season has 2 important games remaining, Im starting to get excited about the basketball team we have. So I decided to see who some of your favorite basketball players of all time are from LSU. Growing up, Chris Jackson was my role model. because of this he is still my favorite player to ever play for LSU. i try not to take into consideration all of the things he did after he left. But after watching this video, I know who the best player to ever play for LSU was, even better than shaq. Any other opinions? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y5KAaercTI
That guy was just phenomenal. He is why my son got interested in basketball after watching the TV special on him. Now he is on the school team...
Good video, a couple thoughts... 1. Has anyone seen any in game video where Pete dunked? 2. I need to get more arc on my jump shot
i also need more arc. I also need to learn how to make a layup with my body twisted in a preztel and still somehow get it to go in. His passes are the best though.
There was a thread a few weeks ago about who was the best player ever for LSU. I would have liked to say Cannon, Stovall, Bert Jones, or Cassanova because I'm mainly a football fan. I had to say Maravich, because his skills were so far beyond everyone else. One of the best shooters I ever saw (add Jordan, Bird), one of the best passers I ever saw, and a reasonable defender. The debate will always be, since he never won a championship on any level, did his individual skills detract from the overall team, and while he did things that looked good, did he fail to do what was necessary to produce wins in the biggest games.
The same can be said for any other basketball players from LSU. I remember the Shaq teams losing early in the big dance.his overall skills probably did detract from the team, but he still has to be considered the best to play basketball for LSU. The only debate can be made is with Shaq, who won NBA Championships.
Never heard that Shaq's talent detracted from the team. Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, Vernel Singleton all were great players. It was Brown who was described as able to push underachieving players but unable to coach a team with this much talent.
I was talking about the fact that they never won a championship(while at LSU). I dont think he detracted from the teams ability either.
Speaking of Shaq, here is a highlight video, along with one of his "sweet rhymes" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQnbL7BrcWU
I use to love CJ and Shaq then one day I watched the movie about PM's life. Now I am a HUGE Pete fan. Anyone else think that PM would of been on the And 1 team from day if it was around back in his day? The professor ain't got nothing on PM.... I still think shaq can dominate a game that's why is the best ever from LSU. If you look back at the history of basketball only the greats caused other teams to come up with named strategys to stop these players, for example: Shaq, Jordan, Bird, Isiah Thomas, Wilt etc..etc Rock on ....
