Saw this link on one of my AU sites. Looks like LSU has quite a few admirers when it comes to tailgating, and the negative treatment of opposing teams fans seems to be greatly exaggerated. http://mb21.scout.com/fufinsiderfrm5.showMessageRange?topicID=31182.topic&start=1&stop=20
Re: Best Tailgating Atmosphere My best(aside from LSU): 1. Florida. Never went for an LSU game. I have went for FSU-UF games. 2. Auburn 3. Tennessee Worst tailgating atmosphere (where's the fun in being nice): 1. 'Bama. 2. MSU 3. Arkansas
Re: Best Tailgating Atmosphere In my experience, the best SEC tailgaiting is: LSU -- for food, atmosphere, and excitement Ole Miss -- for babes. I don't know what it is about the place . . . The worst: State -- Starkville is aptly named. Arkansas -- Admittedly, I've only been to Fayetteville when it was bloody cold and sometimes snowing, but the tailgaiting sucked. My theoryis that in the places that don't have particularly special tailgaiting . . . folks go find good barbeque. I have determined that the quality of tailgaiting is in inverse proportion to the quality of the local BBQ joints. Baton Rouge and Ole Miss really aren't special BBQ towns, you know. Southern also tailgates well, so no good BBQ in north Baton Rouge either. Seafood is king here. But Starkville, Fayetteville, Tuscaloosaville, and Auburnville each have some damn good, sometimes legendary, barbeque joints. I never tailgate in those towns. I go get some pulled pork or ribs. Whooo Pig! Waaaar Beagle! This formula does not work in the Big-10.
Best and Worst SEC tailgating Venues merged I saw this post on another board and I was wondering everyones opinion on their best and worst tailgating venues in the SEC. Here is my top 5: #1- LSU - Not just saying that because I am an LSU fan. It is truly an awesome experience. #2- Alabama- Great experience. Had just as many classy fans as they did jerks. The strip is awesome. It is almost a mini Bourbon street if you go on the strip the night before the game. #3- Florida- I have only been there once but overall, I had a good time. Good looking women and the prices on beer weren't that bad .I did get really tired of hearing the " gator chomp." # 4- Auburn- Good looking women and the food was good but not great. The people there were mostly respectfull but there were quite a few jerks who ragged us the whole time we were there the one time I went. # 5- Ole Miss- The food was pretty good. The women weren't bad looking considering they are probably all related. The scenery sucked and there wasn't much to do around town. The people though overall were really nice and seemed like they enjoyed us LSU fans being there.
I say... LSU . . . . . . . of course! Ole Miss. . . .. Hot, Hot, Hot girls always overdressed for the occasion, and the grove at ole miss is a nice touch. Auburn. . . . .. Great girls (and I grew up as an AU fan... boy did that change!) BAMA. . . Never been to Florida on game day
Im thinking that the West has much better tailgating than the other half... But maybe thats because the majority of my life have been going to LSU, AU, Ole Miss, and BAMA.....
OK, The best tailgating venue is at my place about 5 miles from Jordon-Hare. If I make the game this year we will congregate in the open field on the left of the photo. The pond is full of catfish. Bring your ATV. I guess Salty would have to qualify you before allowing firearms. View attachment 7234
Florida is the worst IMO. Full of white trash. The town of Gainesville really isn't much better than Starkville.
Re: Best Tailgating Atmosphere Ever been to a game in Little Rock? Fayettville is weak, but not the Rock!
Man, I've had more fun in Gainesville over the years than you can shake a stick at. Comparing it to Starkville is like comparing Kyla Cole to Hillary Clinton.
