I'll nominate just about everything from Van Halen's first six albums.

Let me get the definitions straight. A riff is a catchy and memorable lick -- just a couple of bars. A solo is an extended improvisation.

The opening to the Stones Satisfaction is memorable riff. Hendrix in All Along the Watchtower is a memorable guitar solo.

    Naw,
There are a bunch of lists here much older than mine!
A few more I just thought of:
Solo, Boston More than a feeling.
    Riffs, Boston Peace of Mind
    Solo, Great White Rock Me!

Love this thread as a guitar enthusiast.
Play as a hobby but I haven't really played in about 17 years!
Its nice to get old compared to others less fortunate:thumb:

ill try to avoid the common pink floyd, zeppelin responses but i cant leave out the first dude:

    little wing/voodoo chile--hendrix

    anything on 2112 --lifeson--rush

    fade to black/one--hammet--metallica(live)

    stinkfist/h.--pacman jones (tool)

know your enemy--(whoever he is)--rage against the machine

    honorable mention:

thunderstruck--angus--(ac/dc)--(a certain LSU video furthered my liking of this one.)
