The thread asks about WIDE RECEIVERS...not just receivers. Bush isn't a wide receiver, although he occasionally lines up in the slot. Most of the 89 passes he caught last year were from out of the backfield...you know, the place where running backs and QB's line up. He's a hybrid player...and has been used masterfully by Payton and the Saints.
I don't know that I would call Reed's career "solid". 5 years as a pro, and Reed has only managed 8 career TD's and only broke the 50 reception mark but once and the other 4 years he didn't break 40. Hate to say it, but I think the only thing that has kept Reed even getting playing time is the fact that he was Buffalo's top draft pick a few years ago. Reed doesn't produce, and he may very well be released.
thats a pretty bad argument dealing with semantics. if your reception leader on your team isnt a receiver, no one is. of course hes also a running back and has to be classified as one or the other though its foolish to claim hes not a receiver. ask the poor nickelback who has to face him each week what he thinks.
Aww hell. Just look to the worls of fantasy football. You can't insert Reggie into your starting line-up as a WR. He's only listed as RB.
Agree. Also FH, you're right about the thread asking about "Receivers", but running backs lined up in the "Backfield" can be "Slot" receivers. Also consider that most fans, and most commentators use the generic term wide receiver for all such players, specific names exist for most receiver positions: A split end is a receiver on the line of scrimmage, A flanker is a receiver lining up behind the line of scrimmage, A slot receiver.......well they’re in the slot- between the split end / flanker and the linemen, A slot back is a receiver lining up in the offensive back field. :thumb:
While were at it let’s take a look at RB. Again I have to go with LSU. USC’s RB’s just haven’t measured up to the talent that LSU has put in the league of late. I put Bush w/the WR b/c he only runs the ball between 3 and 6 times a game and that includes reverses when he lines up as a WR. If you look at NFL championships Faulk has 3 Addai 1. When was the last time a USC RB won a championship in the NFL? LenDale White Ryan Powdrell David Kirtman Justin Fargas Reggie Bush Vs Joseph Addai Kevin Faulk LaBrandon Toefield Justin Vincent Dominic Davis
If he was smart he could have had #5 on his shirt if he would have just admitted he was a WR that sometimes has a gimmick run every now and then.
as posted above, clayton had one very nice year but is likely done. i loved reed, but he has had all of two tds in any one season. boy, what would the bills have done without him? henderson is the only one with promise, but the odds that he has a noteable career arent great. the fact that so. cal doesnt have current wrs in the nfl that have done better just means that they havent produced significant wrs either. blah.
