Per Dandydon: Bulletin 8:45 a.m. According to the Times Picayune, Glen Davis, LSU super-signee in basketball, made a 19 on his ACT and will honor his commitment to LSU rather than entering the NBA draft. Sorry didn't notice it was already posted below.
Has anyone actually seen Big Baby play? I had the opportunity to see him play Denham Springs and he really wasn't that impressive. I think the reason he is so hyped coming out of high school is becasue he is so big. His touch, dribbling and other basketball skills didn't impress me. He didn't play that well and the only thing that saved him that game was becsue he is so much bigger than these high school kids. He can barely dunk he is so large. The real star was Mitchell in that game, even though he lost. I think Big Baby should do everyone a favor and just stick to basketball, because I believe that he will not be as good when he starts playing aganist bigger and better basketbal players in college.
Davis Glenn has skills. He's got soft hands and swift fit for a guy his size. He will be a good college basketball player. He plays 100% and if he keeps his weight down he will be dominant!
I think the skills will come and he will develop up against better competition, but even if his skills never fully develop like we would like, this kid fills an absolute immediate need for LSU - SIZE. The big man on this team outside of Bass is Ross Neltner - nothing against Ross, but I don't see us competing well with him forced to guard the opposition's big men when Bass goes to the bench (or the NBA). If teams are forced to guard Bass and Davis someone is going to have an advantage every time down the floor. The immediate need was size and Big Baby fits the bill. Now if we could just get Whipple and others to develop a freakin' jump shot...
