I see CUSA or the WAC moving in on the I-Bowl. The opportunities for "local" teams, LollyPolly from Ruston, Tulane/SMU/UTEP/Tulsa/Rice may be too much for the Shreveport Bowl to pass up. I think an SEC/Big East hook up would be awful, though. I hold the lesser leagues in contempt (heck, I hold every league that isn't the SEC in contemp) and the lowest of them is the Big East. Nothing fires me up like hearing UConn, Cinncinnati, or Rutgers mentioned as "big time" football!

Will the SEC remain? I doubt we want a bowl where we play some scrub whose season can be made playing an SEC team

This is one time it truly is the $EC. Shreveport offers up a nice payday and for a stuggling program, it is a godsend. These days it is a huge drop for LSU, Auburn, Alabama, but 1995 it was the greatest pace on earth. Team with little chance of ever hearing "Champions of the SEC West or East" in conjuntion with their name (Ole Miss, South Carolina, Kentucky, State), it is an OK venue. The SEC fares well with Shreveport.

Kinda on the subject, why isn't there a bowl game in Jackson? They have good stadium that is used by the SWAC and the high school payoffs. It isn't a bad road trip, either.

Nashville and El Paso weren't really seen as destination for folks in the midwest. Bowl games in Orlando especially since it's been moved to late December and Tempe are better attractions for traveling and there are a lot of alumni (retired with bucks) in Arizona and Florida versus El Paso and Nashville. No one up here really relished the thought of Nashville or El Paso. Because of the winter folks want to go to warm weather places for bowl games. Sorry to see the big ten/sec matchup go away in the Music City Bowl though.

The Music City wants a tie-in with the ACC. I've read where the Champs Bowl may want a tie-in with them as well.
