I posted this in the "lost it moments" thread, and thought it would be fun to recall some big upsets, any sport. I gonna cherry pick this fine one:
I think the biggest upset in my period of fandom is the 2000 win over Tennessee. I wasnt an LSU fan until I decided I was going to attend in 1998, and that totally didnt compare to how passionate I became after joining Tiger Band in 1999. The last year of Dinardo was so terrible, and I saw every game from the stands, from before kickoff to well after the final whistle. When Saban was hired, I was unsure of the decision- unsure of the direction of the team. That 2000 upset over UT signified the beginning of our return to glory. After just losing to UAB, and getting waxed by Auburn before that, I just knew it was about to be another season of "more of the same". It was Daveys coming out party- 23-35 for 318 yards.
Hudson Hallman's 17-13 1993 win AT Alabama. The Red Elephants had not been defeated in 31 straight games, LSU three games removed from a 3-58 loss in Tiger Stadium to Visor Boy and a 28 point underdog. LSU played the 2nd best game under his watch (I think the 30-6 whipping laid on Ar-Kansas in 1994 was one of the most enjoyable games I've seen).
Wasn't that the "when pigs fly" game? An Alabama paper claimed LSU would beat Bama that week "when pigs fly". I recall the Tigers blitzing constantly, probably Curley's best game.
Biggest upset for me woould have to be '97 against Florida. A week before the game started I knew we were going to win because of the commercial advertising the game. It was for ESPN of course and showed Herb Tyler breaking a tackle and scoring a touchdown. Not to mention it was a night game vs. Florida. LSU always beats Florida at night.
