I love to watch these air shows. These planes and pilots are amazing. I grew up in Bossier City not far from Barksdale Air Force Base. The Thunderbirds in the 60's used to open up their show with a F4 Phantom coming in low and from behind the crowd with full afterburner. My house was on his path and he came right over us. Me and my brother would get on the roof and it was crazy with him coming just 40 yards above our house. Our windows shook. I will never forget that. My mom was a teacher and one of her friends wrote a book on the Thunderbirds and traveled with them.
The Blue Angels are the best pilots in the world. The Thunderbirds are pretty good, they just wish they could be BA's
Not a single one. But since you asked I will give you this. You let me know the next time one of those air force hot rods lands their jet on a 1/4 mile strip of asphalt that is pitching and rolling in the middle of the ocean. Navy pilots are the best and it's not really close.
Do a Google search on air-to-air victories for the Vietnam & Gulf war. The Air Force is ahead by a wide margin. There's a hell of a lot more to being a top notch fighter pilot than landing the jet.
