From ESPN chat this afternoon: Joe (NYC): Brad give us your BCS projections Brad Edwards: (2:18 PM ET ) For this purpose, I'll assume wins by the favorites on Saturday. BCS NC -- Ohio State vs USC, Rose -- Michigan vs Notre Dame, Sugar -- Florida vs Louisville, Orange -- Georgia Tech vs LSU, Fiesta -- Oklahoma vs Boise State From another question (he must have conferred with Musberger and Herbstreit on this one -- from USC/ND telecast -- Knute Rockne strikes again, and while we're at it, let's win one for the Gipper and check in with the four horsemen): Chris (Lake Charles, LA): Does LSU have a shot at playing in the Rose Bowl? Also, do they have a shot at the national title? Brad Edwards: (1:38 PM ET ) No shot at the national title, but LSU is a legitimate candidate for an at-large spot in either the Rose or the Orange. The question for the Rose Bowl Committee is whether LSU would generate more interest than a Notre Dame team that was already beaten soundly by its would-be Rose Bowl opponent (Michigan) and was just manhandled again by USC. My guess is that Notre Dame still gets the nod because it hasn't played in the Rose Bowl since Knute Rockne was head coach. In case the Rose doesn't take LSU, the Tigers need to hope Florida wins the SEC title. If the Orange Bowl has an at-large choice between LSU and Florida, the local team would get the nod. If the Gators win the SEC, it sure seems like LSU should be a lock to play in one of the BCS games. Let's hope that common sense prevails... :geauxtige
I knew that would evoke a response! I wanted to try and come up with something cute, but let's see the board have fun with that one! Common sense and the BCS, how's that for a perfect oxymoron? :geauxtige
Here are two others from ESPN expressing their views. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2627844
I hear ya, bra. But it's important to hear crap like this, because it just might be what some people are thinking, especially the idiots at ABC/ESPN who will try to influence the decision. Ridiculous? Yes. Some ghost should not determine who plays in a ball game, but you know how some people can be. :dis:
Nice, so Maisel has us left out altogether. A #4 or #5 BCS team being left out of the BCS bowls. That's a serious problem. :angryfire
Well, this confirms my 50/50 split I put up in my thread discussing percentages between LSU and ND to play Michigan. Go Bruins!
