That would be great if we could pick him up. This is the first time I've heard of him, but we really need a point guard.
I'd be curious to know why he wanted out of TT. If it had anything to do with Knight's rough coaching style, then BR may not be the right place for him.
Why pick him up though? I know we could use a good point guard but what about him leads you to believe he is better than, say... Voogd?
Hallelujah!!!! 1. Terry Martin WAS someone on the Tiger's radar last year, but Brady and Butch couldn't seem close. TTech had established a little bit of a pipeline with players like Zeno. From what I've seen of Terry, he's a big guard with some talent. Good guy to back-up/complement Dameon Mason, or give Mason a run for his money for some PT. 2. This is good news for LSU recruiting---obviously, Brady's not the only coach in America who has "issues" with his players, eh? I'd love to see Knight get some negative pub in west LA, as this can't help Tech. Now, we just need to worry about Barnes and Penders... C'mon Terry the Tigahs NEED YOU! :geauxtige
Yeah - This guy's definitely an SG to compete for playing time next year with Dameon Mason out of Marquette (they actually might make him sit out all of next year). So who knows with him. Not a PG.
I saw him play against UNLV (I think that was the team) ... much, much better than what I see from Voogd at this point. He's a big guard, too. When they said he was from Louisiana, I was wondering why we didn't recruit him.
First off, Terry Martin is not a point guard. He's a 6-5 ish shooting guard. So, he'd be another big guard (more athletic and better offensively than Temple) who would either back up or compete with D.Mason for PT. We need him b/c we need offensive guys on the perimeter. I don't know if Terry is a pure shooter, but he's a big LA guard who can help stem the tide of non-BR players leaving the state and help establish some guard recruiting for Butch and Brady. As for whether he's better than Voogd... No Doubt. Terry was ranked as a top 70 player the year he came out. They really don't play the same position anyway. I'd be curious. As a transfer, he may not count against our ability to still sign a PG with our one scholarship. We lost Kentrell due to transfer, does that mean we have an extra spot for Terry?
As noted, the Tigers did recruit him. But, couldn't close. Fell in the camp of biggish guard from west LA who Knight was very keyed in on. I'm sure Zeno was singing his praises and helped recruit Martin to Tech. Of course, you realize that playing for Knight is less than a fun experience (and probably contrary to popular belief, WORSE than playing for Brady) after you get there. Tech is a very good example of how even good coaches can have a rough time this day and age in college. Tech was ranked by most to be a top 15-20 team, with a great recruiting class, top 3 or so in the Big 12. Now, they've lost several games in the early going and seeing a potential meltdown in the program. Let's keep it real when we b*tch about CJB... His players seem to be pretty mature at this stage of their young careers and pretty together in the midst of a tough non-conference season. :bball:
