What's the big deal? He wants to be the #1 pick and believes in his own abilities. Is he supposed to say that he doesn't want to be the #1 pick. He hasn't come out and said "JR sucks" or anything like that. And btw, Jordan is generally reguarded as an ahole off the court. It was his competive drive that made him and his teams so good.

I just come from the school of letting my work/play speak for it's self. It's a classier thing to do and usually works more to ones favor if they are sincere.
Gee, these guys should be happy with being 1 and 2 period.

Perhaps they should learn to settle for 2 and 3. Calvin Johnson may be #1.

I have to admit, this comment has "spoiled child" written all over it in my book.

Yeah. Why waste the first pick on a WR when you can wait until the last round and draft some guy out of Hofstra.

They asked him a question and he gave an honest, confident answer. I respect that.

The interview tells me that he believes in his abilities. You gotta understand, these guys are essentially interviewing for jobs. Would you hire a kid who walked into your office and said, "I am the second best man for the job. No doubt."

Certainly seems reasonable unless you compare the respective responses to the same question by both qbs. Whereas Russell continues to show a humble side and considers that it would be an honor if he is picked #1, Quinn seems to think he deserves this without question and is clawing for just that. As to remarks about Russell, if you read closely, Quinn doesn't just tout himself, he does it in comparison to Russell and the intention is to make himself look better at JR's expense.

What many people are overlooking is that Quinn was anointed by the press for the entire year, and as Notre Dame faltered, Quinn looked worse. By the same token, you have many in the press saying that Russell does not deserve the #1 spot on the strength of one game. We fans realize that his stats reflect a great deal more than that, and the reality is that he didn't get the respect that other top QBs were getting around the nation. As a result, it may appear to many people that he is a one hit wonder, but the stats and his workouts don't lie. The press is taking this opportunity to save a little face for being off the mark for the entire year.

On that note, look at the comments of the NFL coaches and the pro scouts. You don't hear the Qb coach that worked with both Quinn and Russell(who also works with Brady), describing Russell as anything short of mythical. The people that matter have seen these guys first hand and this may be why we see Quinn taking his case to the people. Hey it could mean several million dollars, so I can't really blame him, but in truth, he comes off like a titty baby.

The press sells papers/mags by having something controversial to right about, and if they can build up some drama to keep us clicking on their links or buying their articles, then they have done their job. There is no reason to take it personally as most of it is really cheap theatrics, so just wait until draft day, re-evaluate it after the first year they both play, and really look at it again in 5 years. This won't really be settled until then.

Sadly enough, by then the Domers will still be winless in bowl games.:hihi::hihi:
