Well amid all the NC hoopla that has surrounded this team since before the season began, I've seen the most crazy predictions on this board that anyone could imagine. Throughout it all I've tried to be somewhat tempered in my predictions and hopes. I think a lot of folks on here let their hearts override their brains. Now, a lot of folks who have cheered these kids all season are calling for CLM to step aside etc! As if this season wasn't enough craziness! I wanted the Tigers to go all the way as badly as anyone, and all of those close games worried me more and more as the season developed. I had a "gut" feeling this game was gonna be the make or break for our Tigers and unfortunately it was the latter. But my God...c'mon people, we've lost two games by a handful of points, and even then it took 3 overtimes in each one of those to beat us! I still think LSU has to be one of the top 3 teams in the nation. We've been through one of the most brutal SEC schedules I can remember. In addition, was it just me or did most of those teams seem to play the best they've played all year against "us"? If not, it certainly seemed that way to me. The Tigers seemed tired and sore Friday. I hope whatever "A"hole scheduled that damn game gets a week worth of heartburn from their freakin Thanksgiving turkey! Well, I've ranted enough, there will be no NCG this year...Big damn deal! We still have 2 games to play. The Tigers need to pick themselves up and get ready for the SECCG. I hope they have enough gas in the tank to beat the piss outa Tenn and make a statement, following that, beat some more out of whoever we get for a bowl where the hell ever it might be. I'm disappointed for sure, but a 12 and 2 season and an SEC Champ trophy will go a long way to easing the pain...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, it could be worse y'know...we could be Bama fans!!!! :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Too bad for you it has to be "chopped and screwed" for you to read it. It was a great post. It was one of the best I have read since the game, and it helped to ease my pain a little bit. By the way, was this one too long? Is this better? How bout now? Is there enough breaks in this post for ya? Just kidding...but you should really go back and read the post...it was a good one. Later....
As true champs, the team should shake it off and bounce back. As true fans, it's time to drop the moans and give our great team our full support:thumb: Great post phlashman. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :
I agree and disagree with his post. First of all don't get me wrong, I'll take this kind of record and playing in Atlanta for the SEC Championship anyday. I don't buy into the philosophy of a tired football team, I don't care what football team you are talking about either. Every football team has to play so many games, period. How tired was Florida last year when they won the championship or LSU in 2003, Ohio State played less games than Florida and lost! OSU played an easier schedule than Florida and lost! If any football team is tired than it has coaching issues whether its conditioning or being overworked in practice. I for one have let what happened pass but as a fan you have to wonder what happened to our defense after the first 3 games of the season. We played lites out against a damn good football team in VT with a mobile QB. MSU wasn't that bad either. I've seen a lot of excuses as to what happened to our defense but no answers. Some people aren't going to like me saying this but if the situation was different somehow at LSU after the VT game, our defense wouldn't have hit the skids for three quarters of the season. What the hell, crazy expectations? We were number 1 or 2 in the nation all year, we blew out a top ten VT team? Most tough games were at home. A lot of fans do let their hearts get in the way with their predictions, some don't. Its an LSU board, very few people will pick the other team. Edit:Sorry, it was hard to read your post so I read expectations instead of predictions for some reason! I just think part of your post didn't make any sense, thats all. Geaux Tigers, Lets win the SEC CG and our bowl game for the seniors and fans.
I agree with most of your post. The one thing I dont understand is why so many Tiger fans are calling this a brutal schedule. This is the Average LSU schedule except for VT coming to BR. (which was not a tough game). In fact this was LSU's easy schedule ( Aub. FLA. USC at home.) I do not blame the schedule for the 2 losses.
This is a very interesting point but lets assume they are correct. That would mean that everyone we played had to be better than usual. Was Florida, AU, Bama, MSU, USCE, Kentucky, R-Kansas, etc. better than normal? For arguments sake I will say that Kentucky and MSU was. Another thought is that how brutal will next years schedule be if this year was so brutal?
