Kirk Herbstriet thinks Les Miles would walk to Ann Arbor on his knuckles to take the job. What a freakin' idiot.
Someone was telling me at the tailgate today that Michigan would have a hard time coming up with the money to pay a big salary. Apparently the state put a cap/ regulation on the coach's salary.
Miles would be a fool to walk away from this talent pool right now and miss out on contending for some big prize stuff here over the next few years. Home is a big draw, but I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. Lot's of unfinished business in BR. In fact, I still see him as just getting started here.
Everybody always points out just how much that Michigan program means to Les Miles, that's why they say he's going.
Given his ties to UM, I don't doubt that Miles would be very interested in that job esp with UM's talent, resources, history, etc.. But, no way would Miles leave LSU during the regular season when LSU has a very good shot at playing for a NC. If he leaves, he'll leave after this season. At that point, depending on how LSU does, Miles would also have more leverage for negotations. But, until then, I don't see who UM would promote if it fired Carr. They'd have to promote from within, but would you really want to promote one of their co-ordinator who is in part responsible for how poorly UM is doing?
Not how Michigan does things and it really doesn't matter how bad things get. Now, at the end of the year, they very well might intimate to Carr that were he to tender his resignation, they might very well accept it. If Carr's departs, it'll be in December and will happen gently.
