My problem is the politicians meddling in scheduling. ULL was "willing" to help last year if we played a game in the Superdome as the visitor. Frankly, Appalachian State is a more attractive than Nicholls or Southeastern. Scheduling 1-AA is a problem, but I don't think we need to make it worse by allowing the legislature the opportunity to dictate who LSU plays and where.

I totally agree with the article.. there is no reason why LSU shouldnt schedule in-state schools over out-of-state schools if they are gonna schedule a D1-AA school. Keep the money in the state, develope good relationships with these small schools. Many people start at these schools and move on to bigger ones like LSU. Bertman shouldnt bit about everyone in the state wanting to play them.. oooh! he has to answer phone calls.. big f*cking deal, do your job, man. And as far as the ULL situation with the superdome, they would have settled for a deal like ULM got with arkansas.. play there but make them the home team.. a 90000 figure would keep them eligible for another year.

Whether we should play them or not, it should be LSU's choice. That would be BS to force LSU to play these crappy teams.

Could you provide an example of who LSU got from one of these smaller schools. I know you said that they start there and some of them move to schools like LSU but I don't see it.

Also LSU is not a charity. If USL or anybody can't keep their stauts without playing a fake home game then drop down. LSU owes them nothing but another thrashing so they can spen more years complaining and saying LSU gets this and that. YADA YADA. NO wonder we don't schedule them. Give them a million dollars and they would want you to count it for them. :dis:

Yet another problem a playoff would solve.

Its funny how people on this forum complain about other schools being jealous of LSU but you still refer to ULL as USL. It seems to me that LSU people are just feeling a bit threatened by the small schools as their enrollments increase. In many academic categories, LSU is beat out by the small schools in the state and are losing people with their snobbish attitude. Hopefully they are gonna change that a bit, like with the Education department, who are trying to align their curriculum a little closer to that of the rest of the state (University of Louisiana System which is comprised of the 8 other big public schools in the state). The "flagship" needs to learn to lead through cooperation, not try to set itself apart. Part of that CAN be to keep money in the system, and one example of that is scheduling in-state teams.
Now.. Flame me all you like, but i've been to a couple other universities in this state. and I, like most people, look up to LSU and support the tigers, and any animosity toward LSU that people at these schools feel is NOT out of some jealously of LSU's success. Its because LSU tends to set itself up as a snob.

If playing a 1AA team did not have a penaty attached to it, then we could play a different in state for the season opener. Spread the wealth, have a great tailgate party day, and then go care of business on a national level. Without any cost attached to our season.
