Im gonna have a little faith and say that LM gets a bowl win. Remember NS had a losing bowl record before he came to LSU
Wow that bites. Va Tech is a worthy opponent, but neither of the schools belong in the friggin' Peach bowl. That ain't even a New Years EVE bowl. :nope: I'm still hoping for the Capitol One for ya's. But if that ain't to be, then at least a bid in either the Cotton or the Outback. At least! They got Michigan and Florida projected in the Outback. And LSU is far more deserving to be in that bowl above Florida.
Common sense would tell you that. However, the Outback hasn't been looking at a team from the West...it's been between UF and USC all along and they've stated so. Both the Cotton and the Capital One bowl were contacted by the respective schools several weeks before the SECCG and were essentially locked up. The week before last Bertman did contact the SEC office to make sure that the loser of the SECCG fell no further than the Peach. In fact, it was just last Thursday that Bertman and Miles had their contact with the Cotton Bowl. Conversely, Bama had been in negotiations with the Cotton for 3-4 weeks at that point. All that being said, these invitations still haven't been issued so where a team ends up isn't set in stone. All we can do is speculate. The Capital One does seem like a more logical fit for LSU because behind the BCS bid, it has the largest pay-out of the other bowls. There is only a 250K difference between the Peach and Cotton...so if you base this bowl "ranking" on dollar amounts there isn't a great deal of difference between the two.
The schools may rank the bowls by dollars, but the public ranks them by the date played. The later you play, the more important you are. If we get Peach, then we will be slipping pretty badly, far below where we should be.
if it is the Peach bowl then that truly sucks and it is a travesty which speaks to the corrupt and money hungry nature of the bowl system. Do we deserve the Cap One, not in my opinion. we played there last year, so a team like Auburn is way more attractive to them. we do deserve the Outback though instead of Florida....we beat them straight up, have a better record then them, and it is a larger payout. same with if Bama goes to the Cotton Bowl, we beat them and deserve it more. But, the bowls are interested in money, money, and money...not matchups and team worthiness. thus, Florida will go to the Outback and Bama will go to Dallas for the Cotton. if it is the Peach against Va Tech, at least it will be a good match up.
Interesting that we were looking at a BCS bowl against West Virginia which seemed dissapointing and now it could possibly be against Va. Tech - a much more worthy opponent that will likely pummel us.
