Reading the official ND Party thread, reality and wondering what the enemy camp was up to had me curious ... so I peeked in on the ND website ... WAS AMAZED AT WHAT I READ ... Weiss is the "real deal" as a head coach. Keep in mind, this is an open Press Conference and Weiss is talking to his crowd and just running down the entire List of LSU talent & "BACKUPS" ... position by position ... Unbelievable. http://und.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/121906aaf.html More importantly, it's what Weiss didn't say and his evaluations, especially Beckwith and his "pickups" on "LSU's offensive & defensive tendencies". ND has already worked their 1st & 2nd Down Plays, Third Down Plays in progress. This will be one well prepared & one well-coached team we face in the Dome. This game is not "in the bag" by any stretch of the imagination. I'll do my celebrating "after" an LSU win.
2 things: it's Weis and we're fans; chill out... we're not actually playing in the game... what we say or thing has no affect on the team's preparation.
A couple more things: One: Weiss may be giving one hell of a PC, but don't you think that Les & Co aren't doing the same preparation? Hopefully, our coordinators have their heads in the game (and not on other jobs) or this could be a Cap One repeat... Two: I too think it is very possible that LSU loses this game. I know a lot of you guys are confident, but I'm a bit worried about LSU coming out flat and getting behind early... LSU is probably going to make a few boneheaded mistakes (it happens EVERY game) and with our luck (and ND's) the Irish will probably play error free and "out of their asses" and pull an upset. "Kiss of death" brought to you by the "Media." Before I get flamed let me say that I hope and expect LSU to play error free and put it to these pansies, but you never know what could happen. I paid close to 300 bucks for a ticket so I hope that LSU whips some Irish ass, but I have a gut feeling that I hope is wrong.
I agree with the concerns, we can lose this game if we come out flat, or if lack of focus allows us to commit too many errors, ints or fumbles, or should make an int on defense and drop the ball. I expect LSU to win a close hard fought battle. I expect ND to play over their heads, because they are sick and tired of hearing how good LSU is. They are the underdog, and this would crown their season where they have not beaten a top ranked team. We better show up motivated to beat ND and possibly finish as high as #3! :geauxtige
zinc83, aka Ramah, is hoping and praying for a Notre Dame win so his butt buddy Saban can be more of a viable candidate here to him and about 4 other people.
I've said it once, but never on this board. Women are by nature supersticious. They try to pretend they aren't, but in reality they're worse than a voodoo preistess at midnight on the summer solstice at stonehenge. Men are only supersticious about one thing: Football. During the Arkansas game, I was sitting in a high backed desk chair with my feet on the desk in front of me. After whoever it was ran back the Arkansas kick off for the touchdown, I leaned over to take my shoes off. Then I stopped, and changed my mind. Why? Well, because I might upset the balance of the universe. You just never know. When things are going well, DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. Even your shoes. My point in all this is that this thread clearly emphasizes how supersticious we are as LSU fans, and probably generally as men regarding football. We're assuming that we've jinxed the game through our cocky attitudes toward the Sugar Bowl, when in reality what we say has zero effect on the game. If we are to lose, someone will come back to this board and say, "SEE? We shouldn't have been so self-assured. THE GODS DID NOT TAKE KINDLY TO OUR ARROGANCE!" Just thought I'd share.
Not entirely true. Some of us readily admit to being superstitious! The whole official ND thread makes me nervous. It's bad mojo. As far as voodoo priestess, yada, yada. That would be an amature. You ought to see me at a baseball game! Men don't hold the monopoly on that superstition. That would likely be me.
Here is my take on the game. Advatages of ND over LSU 1. Has lost 8 straight bowl games. The law of averages is on their side. 2. Having heard so much about how much better LSU is than they are and how over-matched they will be, they will be out to prove something. Advantages of LSU over ND 1. LSU is the better team 2. LSU has home-field advantage 3. LSU has more to gain with a win and more to lose with a loss. A win would probably give the Tigers a #2 national ranking which would give them a more advantagous position for a shot at a run for the 2007 NC. However, how much of an advantage this really is for the Tigers is questionable since I really don't think they will have this on their minds prior to or during the Sugar Bowl. I just don't think it will be much on an impetous for them, but it is there so I included it.
I have said it before on this Forum and I'll keep saying it! 2 Reasons that Lsu will win..... SPEED---KILLS! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
