College Football Wire was the only publication I know of that picked LSU to win the conference outright in the preseason last year. Sure, Phil Steele picked lSU as a "darkhorse" among several picks, but it's not quite the same. CFW was the only predictor to correctly pick nearly the exact record for every SEC school in ’03. (except Ole Miss, who they missed by one game) link to this year's predictions: http://www.collegefootballwire.com/sec.html Ole Miss as the best DB unit in the conference??? I don't get that logic.
CFWwire.com predictions Something isn't right with their predictions. 1. No way Georgia is going undefeated playing two opponents in the SI top-6 and two more in the top-15. 2. No way Alabama goes 6-2 in the SEC. Which of these top opponents will they beat--Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, or Ole Miss? Answer=none. Something isn't right with their rankings, either. 1. No way Chris Leak is the leagues top player. No way is Justin Vincent the leagues top RB, not yet anyway. Green is the most overrated player in the league. Spears is the most underrated. 1-4 should be Williams, Webster, Leak, and Vincent. 2. No way Ole Miss has the league's best defensive backfield. LSU by a mile. 3. No way Florida has the best offensive line. LSU by a length. 4. No way Georgia has the best defensive line. LSU by a nose.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!! First of all, Tennessee better hurry up and get a quarterback if they're gonna go 7-1. UGA is not gonna go 8-0, with all due respect to UGA fans, And I really don't see three losses on Auburn's schedule. I guess they're predicting losses for Auburn against LSU, UGA and Tenn, but IMO, they beat both UGA and Tenn. I can only assume they're thnking we lose at UGA and at Fla, but particularly with the recent events at RB and LB for UGA, I think we should win that one, and as long a ZOOK is the coach at Fla...........
I agree, they see to be off, just like it seemed last season. I don't see AU losing to UT but I can understand where the safe picks would favor LSU and UGA over Auburn. As far as UT's QB situation, speculation is swirling that neither CJ Leak or Rick Claussen is looking as good as pure freshman Brent Schaeffer. Schaeffer is very talented and is often compared to a young Michael Vick. In yesterdays practice, Schaeffer was the man. On one play that broke down, he escaped pocket pressure, jooked an LB and a Safety in open field, and sprinted 48 yds for the TD. Impressive. Auburn recruited him hard, (and we needed him) but it came down to UT/NCSU/AU and he chose UT where he felt he could win out the starting position..... he just might. AU plays UT in week 5. If Schaeffer starts the season, I'd say UT will be the edge, but if Fulmer pussyfoots around for 2-3 games before he elects to move Schaeffer into the starter role, AU could pick up the win in Knoxville.
Fat load Fullmer has a lot of baggage to deal with right now, add to that a fresman QB and the fact that Cedric Houston will probably be hurt again by the end of the second game, Jabarri Davis is ticked because they want him to move to fullback and he doesn't want to, they have three new starters on the DL and three new starters in the secondary, it all adds up to big trouble on Rocky Top IMO.
And probably eats it as well. I just don't see us losing two games while georgia wins all of theirs. I guess the only thing we can do is wait and see who's right here.
