The second scrimmage was held yesterday, and apparently the offense performed significantly better. Scott led all rushers... http://lsubeat.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070317/SPORTS0202/70316036
Good to see our safeties doing well. This position is my major concern for next season. Its odd to see Keiland Williams on the bottom of the rushing lost though. Anyone knows if its because he had less carries? If so, isnt he our first string RB? And, glad to see our QBs doing a good job, Flynn going for 2-1 and Perrilloux for 2-0.
Anyone else notice that CLM singled out Murphy and Williams, but didn't mention Broussard, who outgained both of them?
Yep, jumped right out at me as well. I guess it's Coach's way of taking a different approach from last season, in which he seemed to try and pump up Alley as much as possible. Perhaps, he figures, the best way to get Broussard out of his (self-induced) slump is to go the opposite way: Alley either mans up, gets in shape and contributes or he rides the bench. His call.
Suprising to see Keiland get the least yards of all of them... Our starting TB may not be the given we thought it was. Tough to tell on those yards though without knowing which defense they were going up against/Oline they were running behind.
Now that we have some relatively established backs, I don't think we'll be seeing as much of him running the ball. I wonder if it could also have to do with Crowton's offense...?
2 things: 1. Hester has been a little bit nicked, and he was only about 50/50 as to if he would even play, so I don't know if he played. 2. I've said it all spring. Williams ISN'T our best back. He's not bad, obviously, but I'll take Murphy and even Alley-Cat over him at this point. Obviously Keiland will start until these guys prove it on Saturdays, but they are proving it pretty good against a pretty damn good defense in practice.
Could also be that he already knows what Hester can do and spring is a time to see what the youngsters can do as well as see if Alley is going to bring it this year.
It might also be that Keiland like Hester showed last year on the field that he is capable and coach is getting more looks at the other unknowns. You can also read nothing into the numbers unless you know the number of carries each had which I haven't seen.
