Click on Stats tab Never before have we seen both the Saints QB and a Saints WR leading the NFL at the same time this late into the season. That is some pretty cool stuff. And we still got that running back....if only I could remember his name....rhymes with loose. On par with the offensive genius and talent of the Colts right now.
Just an idea, maybe we will see it later in the season.... Why don't they put them both in the game together more often (like every down)? Have Duece in the backfield and we could line up Reggie where ever we want. With Duece running hard and the threat of Reggie, Horn, and Colston in the open field, we could make the defense honor both the run and the pass on everydown. Whether it is 3rd and short or 3rd and long there is now way they could know whether to blitz or sit back. Again, maybe its just our genius coach holding things back till later when the games mean more.
Yeah I would like to see Deuce on the field a tad more. And for the exact reasons you mention. But damn I have a hard time questioning what Sean is doing at this point. I would love to see us with a quality tight end (even if it's a 2nd tier TE), someone along the lines of a Clark for Indy would suit me just fine. Obviously we can't afford to get a big time TE here next season. Unless we luck up and draft a rookie who can contribute. Knowing the brain trust of Payton and company, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4th/5th/6th rounder next season have a good year at TE. Or maybe Billy Miller still "has it". He was good as a Texan 3-4 years ago. And he isn't that old.
I think he's limiting Deuce cause of his injury. Don't think he's 100% yet. What I can't wait to see is RB on a "legitimate" screen pass. Or even better, when RB learns to be more patient and not try to hit the homerun everytime. Things are looking good, baby.
The one thing I loved most about the game on Sunday was the fact that Bush was indeed "hitting the hole" instead of juking all over the place. They seem to have corrected this problem, which is great. I don't remember him getting a serious negative yardage run all day long. In a post last week I said I would like to see Bush running about 12 times for 63 yards, with a couple of longish 10-15 yard runs. He ran 10 times for 49 and of course that scintillating 15 yarder for the TD. Good to see Sean Payton keeps up with tigerforums.com.:thumb:
