this is interesting. I can't get the teams to line up with the numbers, sorry. Maybe a moderator can do it.

Against top 15 opponents last year this is what LSU did defensively:

    auburn Georgia Florida Iowa avg
    PHP:
    Pass D       157        209         142        287        198
    Run D        170        221          94         47        133
    Total D      301        430         236        334        325
    Points        10         45          21         30       26.5
    This year
    ASU Tenn avg

    PHP:
     Pass D    461       250        355
     Run D      99        70         84
     Total D   560       320        440
     Points     31        30       30.5
    Whats to learn?

    1. run D is considerably better than last year, especially since Tenn is a run first team.

    2. total D is averaging giving up more than 100 yards per game compared to last year.

    3. Pass D well enough said.

    4. We give up 4 more points per game.

At least not all negative and in my opinion not worth calling for Miles firing yet. If he keeps blaming the players instead of his staff, my opinion will probably quickly change.

When you post "reasonable facts" (and NO 2 games into the season is NOT reasonable), then I'll listen.....

Where'd you get these from? You need to enclose those numbers in the "code" tag so they'll line up. They are hard to read like that.

Atleast this is more relevant that that other post with stats.

You also have to consider last year didn't involve 2 hurricanes, 3 games altered and a new coaching staff.

    Ya think??? :dis::dis::dis::dis::thumb:

Stats like this will mean a helluva lot more after our players and staff aren't operating in the aftermath of such events.

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

I wouldn't say we're 'better' at run D. Our 2 opponents just didn't run it much because they didn't need to. Remember who created those stats: Caddillac, Ronnie Brown, Danny Ware, and Ciatrick Fason. Those are all prime RBs. Much better than the 2 we've faced (I'm not sold on Riggs).

Uhhhh, hate to break it to you, but Tennessee scored 30 points v. LSU. If, in fact, the Vols had scored 21, LSU fans would not be quite as upset as they are, since that would mean that LSU's record would be 2-0 and not 1-1.

So, the defense's scoring average is 30.5 points per game, not 26.

    Class dismissed.

He's only as good as the stats he is given. Cut him more slack next time.

yeah, I messed up with the Tenn. score because I was trying to line up the numbers and mistyped and didn't catch it. Well it looks like defense gives up more points than I thought.
