I have no fear on starting some fresh new talent.

We have had a number of young guns step up this year.

Curious as to why you think this? Dude put pads on for the first time as a soph in HS. All-State the next year, 4 star the next. I think he is a quick study and that is his greatest upside. Other than poor development, whatcha got?

You have to go with upside on Mingo because he is playing out of position at LSU. He is a 3-4 outside LB and will be a damn good one.

Because he's not near as effective as he should be finishing plays. And in the nfl he will be even less effective. If he becomes an olb lb in a 3-4 that would make more sense and utilize his build better. I hardly recall any tackles behind the line all year. Has hurries but little finishing plays at least from memory. He's sorta been unmemorable hence my point.

But of course my expectations are unrealistic with our defense most of the time.

I agree. I think he over pursues from the line but...it is his pursuit in open field that favors his ability as a LB in a 3-4. Have not seen enough of him dropping into coverage and with that, I feel he is a project to become a starter. At best, as a rookie LB he could be used for pass rush.

It is his speed from the outside that has him high in most drafts but if he is drafted as a DE, I would have to agree with you that he might be a miss.
