If coach Miles was such a bad hire and is such an idiot who would the bitchers want say we should have hired?
Urban 7-3 with a pretty talented gator team
Nutt Its a pity he was even thought of
the only good canidate would have been Weise and the only reason he is at Notre Dame is it is his alma mater.
I dont see how anybody can complain and how they are not enjoying this moment.
Miles will match Sabans best season in his first season imagine that Saban was so great but his best season will be matched by Miles in his first season
After this season Miles can loose 3 games a year and everybody will think he is a GOD and should be bowed to everywere he goes because that is all Saban did while he was here :geauxtige

    I just have one question:

Why is "lose" the most misspelled word on the internet?

I got corrected on the word ridiculous a while back, as I was spelling it rediculous (another common misspelling).....but at least it still would be pronounced essentially the same.....but not "loose"

Nothing against you, I just happened to bring it up this particular time....saw the word misspelled a day or so ago by another member and was gonna mention it but didn't....I guess this time it got to me enough to say something

I guess the best way I can answer your question, since I was one of Miles' detractors...and still have reservations about him, so here goes:

If Nick Saban were coaching this team, the ASU, Auburn, Florida and Bama games would have been out of reach by games end.....no cliff hangers, no nail biters, none of that

I think the way this team plays is not to lose come the 4th quarter and although it has panned out in 4 of the 5 close games against formidable opponents (counting Tennessee as formidable at the time we played them), there is still an underlying problem with the way Miles approaches games and his gameday decisions.

I just thank JaMarcus Russell has made plays when we needed him too....but he has not been utilized to his maximum ability....and this so-called best receiving corps in the nation sure looks nothing like that...and it's mostly due to Miles/Fisher's philosophy going into games.

I would say we have as much talent as USC or UT on offense. But you sure wouldn't know it by watching the way we go about attacking defenses.

It's frustrating, and yes we are all happy to be a 1 loss team at this point in the season. Nobody is rooting against Miles to fail. But at the same time there are those people (me included) that is bothered by what appears to be a "let's not lose" mentality. I said it many times before, this mentality is reflected in the way this team plays. They play tight. Extremely tight. Look at all the plays JaMarcus Russell has had to make to save games. Give him all the credit. He has done it. But you can't keep putting the games on his shoulders. You're asking for trouble.

With that said, let's kick Ole Miss, Arkansas and Georgia's asses these next 3 saturdays.

    Go Tigers!

My problem is this: People who didn't like Miles' hire from the beginning have preconceived notions & dislike him. If whoever you (or whomever, I'm not referring explicitly to you throughout this) wanted got hired, you'd be a lot more forgiving & more apt to look at the positives. But because you didn't like the hire, you see the negatives more than the positives. Maybe you don't even notice it, but it's obvious to me that the people who didn't like Miles hire are the ones who haven't liked him as a coach despite our record (although some have since converted).

There's another problem I have. People inventing what Nick would have been able to do & with obviously distorted memories of Nick's tenure here. Nick only had one season in which he lost 3 or less games. Last year with all of the same players except a few great ones who left for the NFL, Nick coached this team to win quite a few close games (remember Troy St?), and even coached this team to lose 2 close games. You can believe that Nick would have blown all these opponents out all you want, but the evidence doesn't support that opinion.

The same could be said for every playmaker under Saban, including Russell last year (Capital One Bowl?). Our WRs were supposed to be awesome last year too, by a team coached by none other than Nick Saban. I guess you remember how that worked out.

I would say this is another problem - dillusions. Since when do we have Heisman winners? Heisman candidates? Miles didn't inherit Reggie Bush & turn him into a third rate running back. He inherited a talented team that hadn't produced up to their potential & has thus far done a pretty good job IMO.

Sorry but Saban had an INEXPERIENCED offense led by a 1st year QB last year....and except for a fluke play at the end of the Iowa game, would have ended the season as the 6th best team in the nation

This offense is led by a much more experienced offensive line, receivers and most importantly QB......and yet we are scoring less points per game than last year.

I don't know what more of a valid comparison you need. This offense is underachieving....period. We should be scoring about 40 ppg.

On the flipside, this defense is not as talented as last year's team and yet we are just as effective (and maybe more so) under Pellini.....so credit goes to him.

The problem this season has been a lack of execution. You can blame this on coaching if you want. Personally, I think there's been too much happening at once this season to specifically say it's the coaches' fault.

I would agree that this offense is underachieving. We just disagree about why.

Through 9 games this year, LSU is scoring 30.0 points per game.
Through 9 games last year, LSU scored 27.7 points per game.
Through 12 games last year, LSU scored 28.7 points per game.

Well coaches coach players....it is possible that they are not being coached to be the best they can be.....

I give credit to Pellini for coaching his players and putting them in the position to make plays and stop the opposing offense more times than not. I would not say that Pellini has no clue what he is doing and that the players are just succeeding in spite of Pellini. That's ludicrous. So just as I am crediting Pellini, I am questioning Miles/Fisher. What baffles me is that Miles came in as an offensively minded coach. OSU was a high powered offense. I just don't understand why that hasn't carried over to this year's LSU team. Anybody wanna suggest OSU had better weapons on offense from last year's team than LSU does this year? I didn't think so.

    Ah jeez LSUGradin,

What is it about you people wanting to throw out "facts"? Don't you realize those things aren't important! How isdslsltsl feels this team is doing is what is important!

After I said that, I ALMOST looked up the stats, but I knew it would be close. Point still stands.....29 vs. 30 is a wash....this EXPERIENCED offense should be putting up 40.
