I am not so sure we are getting top 8 performance out of our coach as of late.:dis: I think Les Miles is earning his money though. Salaries as of December 2006.
Let's take another look at these numbers if Alabama offers Saban the moon and he accepts. At the pro level the sky is the limit. Where will it end at the college level? At what point do the academic leaders intervene and say enough? Athletic Foundations and boosters can cover the overage of the school or state's maximum salary guidelines but how far will it go? There have to be many who would prefer if colleges had no sports programs and those will be the ones providing "secret" information in hopes of exposing an infraction. Are we setting ourselves up for failure with these salaries?
The real question is when the A&M faithful say "enough is enough." That is a lot of money they are paying Francione for not producing jack.
Universities won't do anything as long as the athletic depts are making money and their programs are doing well. Just look at what paying Saban all that money at LSU did for us. It was a great return on our investment. Schools can't buy that kind of national exposure. Escalating salaries may hurt the smaller schools who can't afford to pay that kind of money, like the Boise States and Rutgers of the world. But it has always been like that. But it will definitely drive up ticket prices...
