1. All this talk/thought about the possibility of hiring a new head coach had me thinking-who are the coaches with LSU ties? I know if Saban leaves we'll get a name guy, but who are the coaches with LSU ties out there? Notre Dame had to go to one of "their own", and I'd like it if at some point LSU could get former players to coach (any sport). I guess Stovall was the last one for us in football. It doesn't mean a hell of a lot, but I'd rather have a great coach with LSU/La ties than just a great coach.
  2. I'd rather get the best coach possible. Picking a coach that has ties to the school gets you in trouble. For instance, I think Alabama could have gotten a much better coach than Mike Shula. I don't think we should give any bias to a candidate based on a history with LSU. It will be hard enough to get a coach that can keep us where we are without adding "regulations" to it.
  3. The only coach, to my knowledge, with LSU ties, is currently Clevland interim head coach, Terry Robiskie, who if you recall, was also the interim head coach in Washington when Spurrier left.

I think he's adequate as a coach, but I won't deny the fact that I believe that there are greater coaches out there right now.
  4. Yeah, totally screw the LSU Ties thingy.

That's a horrible way to hire a head coach.
  5. dude, i dont want to just hire some lsu guy. i just want to know why it seems that no coaches come out of here.

plus i guess it would be less likely that we would have to go through this crap with an out of towner
  6. I understood your question, and it would make sense to other IF we had a strong alumni in the coaching ranks. But we don't.

    (I mean, it's not like you're starting a "hire_robiskie.com" anywhere out there....) :)
  7. The best thing about Saban is that he came in and completely changed the culture and thinking with regard (or relative to :) ) LSU football.

Last thing we need is for some LSU guy to come in and bitch about night games, purple jerseys, etc.
