Im as upset as everyone else is with the game, but some of the misplaced anger is making me kinda upset. Quite a few people are talking about individual plays that people made and blaming the game on some of them. (russel for the end of first half and the INT, addai for the fumble, d-line for offsides penalties) This team is not disciplined. They showed it time and time again, numerous offsides penalties, turnovers, the kick return penalties... Russel lacks a LOT of discipline in the pocket (did anyone see the spin move thing he did in the pocket?) Russel played a bad game, but it wasnt physical mistakes (bad passes) it was mental errors. Mental errors that shouldn't be tolerated when there are two very capable guys waiting for an opportunity. I'm not ready to bench him yet, he's done some great things and is still young, but when you've got a 21 point lead going into halftime, he should know that if he doesnt do what he's told, (throw in the endzone or out of bounds) there are going to be severe consequences. They are not disciplined like the saban team. These guys are 20 and 21 years old... some even younger, you can't really blame those guys for making mental errors if they arent being coached properly to avoid them. They were at a huge disadvantage in this game, having fewer games, and so much time off. I'm really proud of the team and the way they played. And you guys that expected a national title, are crazy. Young QB, new coaches, and to throw in the circumstances of the game and the last few weeks... you're asking a LOT from some very young guys. oh, and our secondary needs work.
I totally agree that its the coaches and not the team. If these coaches can't win with Nick Saban's talent pool that was left then how are they ever going to win with their own? This aint the Big 12
No it aint the big 12, but think about it, we'd be a distant number 2 in the Pac 10, how's that grab ya? It dont grab me so well I can tell you that.
