no worry about the quarterback situation, im more concerned about the offensive line, one of the strengths of our team got DOMINATED saturday night, russell and randall, werent getting that extra split second mauck got to go to their second receiver, you notice mauck had great numbers last year when he was protected? also, walter payton couldnt have done any better than our running backs last night, there were almost ZERO holes to run through last night.
our offensive line needs to pick up that mean streak it had during the second half of the season last year, hopefully saban and his o line coach will get to work on that o line because they were awful last night

i guess stacking the line had something to do with it, but i remember numerous times when whitworth had to hold his guy from getting to the qb, whit got his *** handed to him saturday night

Jimbo's play calling was so bad. I don't understand the 3rd and 1 close to scoring and run jet to skyler. Now i know that it can work sometimes, but we were on the left hash and running to the left. If your gonna run that play atleast run it to the right where you have open field. Horrible playcalling.

The more I think about this the more I wonder why tight-ends and a fullback were not used.

Perhaps it was not bad o-line play and simply a matter of being vastly outnumbered.

good point where was david jones. he is a gamer so why not throw him the ball?

Another thing that kinda got to me was we were spreading them out with our 4 reciever sets, but there were know HB draws. That play was money last year. Why get rid of it?

The line underperformed, but they did in last year's opener, too. I don't know why. Still, they did not give up a sack while OSU gave up four. Oregon State was a top-7 defense last year, comparible to Georgia and Auburn.

Anyone know the status of the O-Line's Ass injury?

Bottom line, they got punched in the mouth - I guess it didn't help that Jimbo got cute with the offense, but damn those OSU kids were destroying us off the snap...

P.S. Can we play a FB for more than 2 plays next time it's pouring down rain and the O-Line is having trouble?

Saban had a little talk with the OLine last year after struggling. I think another talk is on the way.Maybe we should have given Peterman And R. Reed more credit.

I think the entire team under-performed....even the coaches. But, the OL will be fine since the talent is there. They have gotten their "Florida '03" wake-up call. As for Jimbo, I think he needs to utilize the play-action game as much as possible. Once Russell starts torching people down the field, the stacked lines will disappear while the running game will flourish.
