Everybody talks about if there was only a CCG game for the Big 10/11, but say ND came into the Big 10 to make it the Big 12, how would it work out? East Division: tOSU PSU NW Ind Purdue Illinois West Division: UM ND Minn Iowa Mich St Wisconsin What do you guys think of this plan, could it equal the SEC?
SEC constantly with 5 teams strong in the top 15 LSU Florida Auburn Georgia Tennessee I don't see that changing anytime soon....also Alabama, Arkansas and South Carolina are often decent....that leaves the 4 cupcakes (MSU, UM, KY, VB) This Big 12 would have the following powerhouses (constant top 15): Ohio State Michigan Notre Dame Problem is does Iowa, Penn St or Wisconsin consistently stay in that top 15 area year after year? Doesn't appear so, especially if they have to play all the teams listed above. Purdue, Michigan St. and Minnesota can be decent most years. Then you have the 3 cupcakes (Ill, Ind, NW). So it could be close to the SEC, but more than likely 2nd best most years. I hope Notre Dame does indeed join the Big 11 and make the 2 divisions as you describe with a championship game.
It really doesn't matter how strong the confrence would be. With those 3 teams ESPN will jump all over them and hype them and make it seem like that division sets the standard. ESPN hates the SEC just like the BCS...
Buckeye -- not a bad plan. I don't think it emulates the SEC at this point, but looks a lot like the Big 12. I think it would be great if they did something like this.
Notre Dame is not going to join the Big 10 (or any other conference) any time soon in football. It is doing just fine right now with Weis at the helm. Having to share the BCS money is something Notre Dame doesn't want to do. If it needed to join a conference, the Big East would be the most logical since its other sports teams already compete in that league. Plus, the Big East is weaker.
Notre Dame's not going anywhere soon. The Big Ten has been to their house, they won't even come to the door. "They never call, they never write" syndrome. If the money ever does dry up, they'd propbably join the Big East where they could be, well, God.
the sad thing is, i got bored at work about a year ago and came up with a playoff system but every team had to be in a conference and have at least 12 teams to have a champ game. so i bascially realligned NCAA football. sadly, it makes sense to everyone else except ND to join the big 10. i like your divisions, that's how i started but thought the East would be dominated by ohio st and PSU every year. i think i changed it several times. ok i've humiliated myself long enough...
I'd like to see that too but won't be holding my breath....... Was wondering, how long is Notre Dame under contract with NBC ?
